Where Christmas Day is a Saturday or Sunday, a holiday in lieu thereof shall be observed on 27 December.

Where Christmas Day. (25 December) and New Year Day (01 January) fall on a Saturday or Sunday the following shall apply: (a) An employee who works on the Saturday or Sunday which would otherwise be a working day for the employee on which Christmas Day and/or New Year’s Day falls shall be paid double their relevant hourly rate (T2) for all hours worked, and will have entitlement to an alternative holiday for working on these days. (b) An employee who works on the officially recognised Christmas Day and/or New Year Day i.e. the transferable day, which would otherwise be a working day for the employee, shall be paid double their relevant hourly rate (T2) for all hours worked and will have entitlement to an alternative holiday for working on these days.
Where Christmas Day and New Year's Day fall on a Sunday and the holiday is observed on Monday, an employee working on the day observed as the holiday shall be paid, in addition to holiday pay, time and one-half for time worked. (Payment for time worked on Sunday, December 25th and Sunday, January 1st, is covered in sections 18.11, 18.12 and 18.13).
Where Christmas Day. Boxing Day, New Years Day or Australia Day fall on weekends, the public holiday and associated penalties will apply on the actual day of the holiday that is Saturday or Sunday and there will be no day recognised for such payment in lieu. This provision will remain in force for the period of time that the All Purpose wage agreement continues.
Where Christmas Day. Boxing Day, New Years Day, Australia Day, or Anzac Day fall on a Saturday or Sunday, and a day is substituted, the Saturday or Sunday for which substitution is made will be deemed not to be a holiday.
Where Christmas Day. Boxing Day or New Year’s Day are gazetted to days other than their traditional calendar date, employees will be given a choice as below in relation to the traditional day of celebration: (a) To work the day at ordinary time (b) To take an annual leave day (c) To take a day off without pay

  • Christmas Day Melbourne Cup Day (or alternative days in regional areas);

  • Christmas Closedown 15.1 It is agreed that whenever annual leave is taken in conjunction with the Christmas/New Year period (as per Calendar in sub-clause 2.11), it is to be taken in accordance with the following procedure. 15.2 Employees who have not accrued sufficient pro rata annual leave prior to commencement of the Christmas/New Year period, may be granted leave without pay by their Employer to give that employee at least the minimum leave of absence required. 15.3 Where the Employer decides to close a site over the Christmas/New Year period for any period in excess of the agreed minimum closedown, up to and including 20 Annual Leave days, then the Employer shall give at least 2 months’ notice to employees as per the relevant Award. Employees who have no, or insufficient, accrued annual leave equal to the period of the closure, may be granted leave without pay for that period. 15.4 Notwithstanding anything elsewhere contained in this Agreement, the Employer may require any employee to work in unforeseen or emergency circumstances during the Christmas period. 15.5 Where an employee requests that annual leave be allowed in one continuous period at Christmas, such a request shall not be unreasonably refused. 15.6 It is a breach of this Agreement and the Award for an employee to be paid his/her full accrual, or part thereof, of annual leave at Christmas or any other time, unless that employee takes such annual leave or his/her employment is terminated. Employment is not to be terminated for reasons of avoidance of this clause.

  • Christmas or New Year's Day Off The Employer agrees to make every reasonable effort to ensure that employees required to work shift shall have at least Christmas Day or the following New Year's Day off.

  • Holiday Falling on a Scheduled Workday An Employee who works on a designated holiday which is a scheduled workday shall be compensated at the rate of double time for hours worked, plus a day off in lieu of the holiday; except for Christmas and New Year's when the compensation shall be at the rate of double time and one-half (2½) for hours worked, plus a day off subject to this Agreement.

  • Public Holidays falling within Annual Leave (a) If a Public Holiday, as prescribed in this Agreement, falls within an Employee’s annual leave the Public Holiday does not constitute part of the Employee’s annual leave and will be paid as ordinary hours.

  • Holidays Falling on Saturday or Sunday ‌ For an employee whose workweek is from Monday to Friday, and when any of the above-noted holidays falls on a Saturday and is not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, the following Monday shall be deemed to be the holiday for the purpose of this agreement; when a holiday falls on a Sunday and it is not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, the following Monday (or Tuesday, where the preceding section already applies to the Monday), shall be deemed to be the holiday for the purpose of this agreement.

  • Day Unless otherwise stated, reference to the terms "day," "days," "month," or "months" mean calendar day, calendar days, calendar month, and calendar months, respectively.

  • Christmas Period relating to scheduling during this period will apply, except as modified to confirm that the weekend shift employee will continue to work weekends during this period.

  • Holiday Falling on Saturday or Sunday For an employee whose normal workweek is from Monday to Friday and when any of the above-noted holidays falls on a Saturday and is not proclaimed as being observed on another day, the following Monday will be deemed to be the holiday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday and it is not proclaimed as being observed on another day, the following Monday (or Tuesday, where the preceding section already applies), will be deemed to be the holiday for the purpose of this agreement.

  • School Day The school day for members of the bargaining unit shall not exceed seven and one-half (7½) hours of consecutive time which shall include a duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period of no less than thirty (30) minutes.
