Work Schedules Tours and Overtime. Work Schedules 12.1 A normal work day shall consist of eight (8) hours between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. excluding a one-half (½) hour or one (1) hour lunch period during the middle of the work day. However, it is understood that the Company will assign other tours only to the extent that the business requires it. 12.2 The normal work week shall consist of forty (40) hours within five (5) consecutive calendar days with two (2) consecutive days off. 12.3 Alternate work week (four ten-hour days) may be utilized. See Memorandum of Agreement "Four-Day Work Week." 12.4 The Company shall provide seven (7) calendar days notice to the employee prior to a change in schedule. 12.5 Time worked in excess of the daily work period of eight (8) hours (and/or ten (10) hours in the case of a four (4) day work week) and in excess of the normal work week of forty (40) hours shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1½ ) times the employee's basic rate for hours worked. 12.5.1 When such overtime worked exceeds twenty (20) hours in a calendar week (excluding hours worked on Sundays), compensation for such overtime worked in excess of those twenty (20) hours in that week shall be paid at the rate of two (2) times the basic hourly rate. 12.5.1.1 Effective September 30, 2007, hours worked on Sunday will count toward the weekly overtime eligibility calculation of two (2) times the basic hourly rate.

  • HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME 16.01 Employees will be scheduled to work not more than twenty-four (24) hours in any one pay week, excluding summer months (May, June, July, August). It is understood the scheduling of employees is the responsibility of the Employer. 16.02 Employees who receive less than twenty-four (24) hours’ notice of the cancellation of their regularly scheduled shift, or who show up for a scheduled shift and no work is available, will receive a minimum of three (3) hours pay, except for those 16.03 Employees covered by this collective agreement shall be paid in accordance with the applicable Employment Standards legislation for public holidays. 16.04 For the purposes of this agreement, the public holidays will be: 16.05 The night shift shall be defined as the shift where the majority of hours fall between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Employees working the night shift will be paid an additional fifty cents ($0.50) per hour for the duration of the shift. 16.06 All employees covered by this agreement will be allocated one shift based on availability and seniority. Further shifts, including regularly scheduled shifts which are posted after the schedule has been established, will be allocated by seniority, it being understood that an employee may drop another regularly scheduled shift for this purpose. (a) Summer employment will be granted to such employees who have notified, in writing, the Operations Manager, by April 1 of their availability for summer (May, June, July, August) employment. (b) Employment starting the following September and January will be granted to such employees who have notified, in writing, the Operations Manager, by August 1 and December 1 respectively of their availability for employment in that semester. (c) Employees shall be allowed to remove a regularly scheduled shift from their schedule if they notify their respective supervisor/ manager, in writing, at least five (5) calendar days in advance of the start of the shift in question.

  • HOURS AND OVERTIME 3:1 A workweek is defined as seven (7) consecutive calendar days, from Saturday midnight to Saturday midnight. The basic workweek shall consist of five (5) workdays of eight (8) hours each and shall begin Monday and run through Friday, except when a job other than for a public utility is to be done on Saturday, then the Company may assign another day as a non-workday and Saturdays becomes a workday in the basic workweek. An extended workweek shall begin at starting time Monday and continue until the next Monday starting time. The regular hours of work for all employees shall be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with an unpaid meal period of thirty (30) minutes which normally will be from 12:00 noon to 12:30 p.m. provided, however, that the regular lunch period may be advance or delayed an hour or less when work must necessarily be performed during the regular lunch period. Such a change in the lunch period shall not be deemed to require the payment of overtime. The regular hours of work may be changed by the Company at the request or direction of the public utility or governmental authorities, and by mutual agreement between the Company and the Union. The Company may change the start times by 30 minutes in either direction of the regular start time to meet the operational need without union approval. Such a change in the regular hours of work shall not be deemed to require the payment of overtime. 3:2 Employees shall report to work at pre-determined assembly points and shall return thereto at the conclusion of the day’s work; and the time spent in traveling between such assembly points and the job site shall be considered as time worked.

  • HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING 15.01 The normal hours of work for an employee are not a guarantee of work per day or per week, or a guarantee of days of work per week. The normal hours of work shall be seven and one-half (7-1/2) hours per day, and seventy-five (75) hours in any bi-weekly period. 15.02 The normal daily shift shall consist of seven and one-half (7 ½) consecutive hours, exclusive of a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid meal period. For employees working the night shift, this one-half (1/2) hour will be paid. Employees shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute paid break during each half of the normal daily shift, at a time designated by the Employer. An employee may combine her rest periods in order to have one (1) thirty (30) minute break, providing she has prior approval from the Director of Nursing. When a meal period is interrupted requiring an employee to attend to a work related problem, then the balance of the unused meal period will be taken within two (2) hours of the interruption. If the employee is unable to reschedule such time, she shall be paid time and one-half (1½) her regular straight time hourly rate for all time worked in excess of her normal daily hours, in accordance with Article 16.01. 15.03 Employees required for reporting purposes shall remain at work for a period of up to fifteen (15) minutes which shall be unpaid. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen (15) minutes however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment. 15.04 Requests for change in posted work schedules must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the employee willing to exchange days off or shifts and are subject to the discretion of the Administrator or her designate. In any event, it is understood that such a change initiated by the employee and approved by the Employer shall not result in overtime compensation or payment or any other claims on the Employer by any employee under the terms of this Agreement. 15.05 Where there is a change to Daylight Savings from Standard Time or vice-versa, an employee who is scheduled and works a full shift shall be paid for the actual hours worked at her regular straight time hourly rate. 15.06 There shall be no split shifts. (a) There shall be a minimum of sixteen (16) hours off between changes of shift unless mutually agreed otherwise. (b) An employee shall not be required to work more than seven (7) consecutive days without days off, unless mutually agreed to by the employee and the Employer. (a) Any employee who is working a permanent shift as of December 31, 1996 shall not be transferred to another shift without their consent. (b) Where possible, the employee will not be scheduled to work more than two

  • Alternate Work Schedules Workweeks and work shifts of different numbers of hours may be established for overtime-eligible employees by the Employer in order to meet business and customer service needs, as long as the alternate work schedules meet federal and state law. When there is a holiday, employees may be required to switch from their alternate work schedules to regular work schedules.

  • HOURS OF WORK & OVERTIME Section 15.1 This Article is intended to define the normal hours of work per day or per week in effect at the time of execution of this Agreement. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as preventing the Employer from restructuring the normal workday or workweek as necessary to promote efficiency or improve services, or from establishing the work schedules of employees. However, nothing in this Section shall relieve the Employer of its duty to bargain the affects of such decisions on employee wages, hours, terms and other conditions of employment. This Article shall be used as the basis for computing overtime for employees who are not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and shall not be construed as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week. Section 15.2 Employees may take one paid fifteen (15) minute break for every four (4) hour block worked. Employees may combine breaks to take up to one (1) sixty (60) minute paid break. Employees may not leave campus on their paid breaks. Section 15.3 Bargaining unit employees who are not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act will be paid one and one-half times their normal hourly rate for all hours actually worked in excess of forty (40) hours per work week. All overtime shall have prior supervisory approval, except when it is necessary for a nurse to remain on duty to protect patient safety. Only hours actually worked are counted for the purpose of computing an employee's eligibility for overtime pay. There shall be no pyramiding of hours or pay. Section 15.4 The Board serves individuals 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. To meet this need for service to our individuals evening and weekend hours may be required of any bargaining unit employee. The Employer will establish the standard work day as beginning at 6:00 a.m. and ending at 5:59 a.m. and starting and ending times for each shift in each department. Supervisors will establish daily workschedules. Section 15.5 Absent an emergency situation, management will notify the Union in the event management intends to institute a long-term change in the present shift times for nurses. Following notification and upon request by the Union, management will meet with the Union to discuss the reason for the change and possible alternatives.

  • Work Schedule (A) Where an employee has an established schedule, a change in workdays or shifts will be posted no less than 14 calendar days in advance and will reflect at least a two workweek schedule; however, the state will make a good faith effort to reflect a one month schedule. (B) In the event of a declared emergency the notice requirement of this Section may be void. (C) The state will continue to observe the scheduling structures currently in place at each agency and agrees to bargain any change in the overall practice of how schedules are established.
