Personal Property Reimbursement. Employees may seek reimbursement for personal property items damaged in the proper performance of their official duties, and the Employer will process requests in accordance with RCW 4.92.100.
Personal Property Reimbursement. Employees may seek reimbursement, in accordance with RCW 4.92.100, for personal property unavoidably damaged or stolen in the proper performance of their duties. Upon request, the Employer will provide the tort claim form to the employee. Employees will be granted work time to complete and submit the claim form.
Personal Property Reimbursement. ‌ Upon recommendation of the appointing authority, the County, in accordance with Government Code #53240, shall provide for payment of the costs of replacing or repairing property or prosthesis of an employee, such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures, watches, or articles of clothing necessarily worn or carried by the employee when any such items are lost or damaged in the line of duty without negligence by employee. If the items are damaged beyond repair, the actual value of such items may be paid. The value of such items shall be determined as of the time of the loss thereof or damage thereto in accordance with the Personal Property Claims Guide as provided by Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 56420, dated January 18, 1977.

Personal Property Reimbursement. The loss or damage to personal property of employees is subject to reimbursement under the following conditions: a. The loss or damage must result from an event which is not normally encountered or anticipated on the job and which is not subject to the control of the employee. b. Ordinary wear and tear of personal property used on the job is not compensated. c. Employee tools or equipment provided without the express approval of the department head and automobiles are excluded from reimbursement. d. The loss or damage must have occurred in the line of duty. e. The loss or damage was not a result of negligence or lack of proper care by the employee. f. The personal property was necessarily worn or carried by the employee in order to adequately fulfill the duties and requirements of the job. g. The loss or damage to employees’ eyeglasses, dentures, or other prosthetic devices did not occur simultaneously with a job connected injury covered by Worker's Compensation. h. The amount of reimbursement shall be limited to the actual cost to repair damages. Reimbursement for items damaged beyond repair shall be limited to the actual value of the item at the time of loss or damage but not more than the original cost. i. The burden of proof of loss rests with the employee. j. Claims for reimbursement must be processed in accordance with the Administrative Bulletin on Compensation for Loss or Damage to the Personal Property.

Management shall review the claim and when circumstances warrant, reimbursement shall be made. A. Claims based on cash losses or losses due to lost or stolen credit cards shall not be considered. B. Claims based upon damage to automobiles are subject to the following provisions. All four conditions must be met before consideration will be given: 1. An employee, who drives his/her car incident to employment, shall have named the Court as an additional insured on his/her automobile insurance policy as of the date the employee sustained the loss of his/her automobile. 2. Evidence of the required insurance coverage must be presented. 3. Invoice for work completed must be submitted. Reimbursement is limited to Two Hundred Dollars ($200). 4. The damage must have occurred while the employee was actually using the automobile on authorized Court business, away from the employee's work place. C. No reimbursement shall be granted for losses covered by some other source, insurance policy or agency. D. A maximum limit of two hundred dollars ($200) per incident shall apply to all claims for reimbursement. E. No claims for reimbursement for items having a present value of less than ten dollars ($10) shall be considered.

The amount of reimbursement for articles of clothing shall be the depreciated value based on the age and condition of the article. The amount of reimbursement for other personal property covered by this provision shall be the replacement value but not to exceed two hundred ($200) dollars per item. An employee who elects to use personal property items in lieu of equipment furnished by the Department shall be reimbursed for such property if it is lost, stolen or damaged in the line of duty, without fault of the employee, for the replacement value, not to exceed the cost of similar equipment furnished by the County.

Any such items, whether or not specifically requested by Administration, must be listed on a form provided and signed by a designated Administration representative as requiring or authorizing such item(s). Otherwise, no reimbursement will be permitted or authorized. 19.4.1.1 The District’s total liability under this provision shall not exceed $5,000.00 annually. 19.4.1.2 Claims made by employees under this provision during the school year shall be paid by the District at the end of the fiscal year. 19.4.1.3 Should the total of valid claims made under this provision exceed the $5,000.00 limit, the District shall prorate payments in accordance to the amount of the various claims made. 19.4.1.4 A joint committee shall be formed to review the claims made under the Personal Property Reimbursement provision of the Agreement. This committee shall consist of three (3) COUTA representatives (to be appointed by the COUTA President), and two (2) management representatives.
