Aggressive Residents. When the Employer is aware that a resident has a history of aggressive behaviour the Employer will make such information available to the employee. In-service and/or instruction in caring for the aggressive resident and on how to respond to the resident’s aggressive behaviour will be provided by the Employer. The appropriate Occupational Health and Safety Committee will be consulted on the curriculum. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that sufficient staff is present when any treatment or care is provided to such residents. It is understood the Employer is responsible for staffing levels.

Aggressive Residents. The parties agree that if incidents involving aggressive client action occur, such action will be recorded and reviewed at the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Reasonable steps within the control of the Employer will follow to address the legitimate health and safety concerns of employees presented in that forum. Any steps that are taken must duly consider the health & safety of the residents and proper compassionate care for all residents. The parties further agree that suitable subjects for discussion at the Union- Management Committee will include issues related to aggressive residents.

(a) Violence for all purposes in the collective agreement shall be defined as any actual, attempted or threatened or implied conduct of a person that causes or is likely to cause physical and/or psychological trauma/harm/ injury/illness or that gives a person a reason to believe that she/he or another person is at risk of and/or psychological trauma/harm/injury/ illness. The parties agree that such incidents will not be condoned. Any employee who believes he/she has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation. (b) The Employer agrees to develop, establish and put into effect, formalized measures, policies and procedures in consultation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to deal with workplace violence. (c) All incidents of violence will be reported to the Joint Health and Safety Committee for review. (d) The Employer agrees to have a process that can alert all employees about a resident with a history of violent behaviour.
Aggressive Residents. When the Employer is aware that a patient/resident has a history of aggressive behavior, the Employer will make such information available to the employee. Upon admission or transfer, the Employer will make every reasonable effort to identify the potential for aggressive behavior. In service and/or instruction in caring for the aggressive patient/resident and on how to respond to a patient’s/resident’s aggressive behavior will be provided by the Employer. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that sufficient staff are present when any treatment or care is provided to such patients/residents.
