Area of Consideration. The minimum area in which a search is made for eligible candidates.
Area of Consideration. A. The area of consideration for positions to be filled through competitive promotion procedures must be broad enough to obtain a sufficient number of best qualified candidates, inclusive of underrepresented groups, from which to select and to provide adequate promotion opportunities for employees. The minimum area of consideration is employees of the activity in the commuting area, except for GS-14 and above which must be at least DLA-wide.

Area of Consideration. When recruiting for a vacancy, one of the initial determinations the Department Head will make is to determine the "Area of Consideration." This term simply refers to the parameters from which appli- cations will be considered and is stated on the vacancy announcements. The Area of Consideration can be limited to "Corporation employees only" which would mean only Corporation employees who are not temporary, discre- tionary, experts or consultants may be considered. An "all sources" recruit- ment means anyone can apply regardless of whether or not they currently work for the Corporation, another Federal agency, or private industry.
