ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. 6:3.1 Principals shall report all cases of assault or offensive touching suffered by an employee in connection with employment to the appropriate administrative and police authorities in compliance with law and regulations. The District and employee will share information relating to such reported cases. The employee will be kept apprised of the status of the case. Principals will consider a teacher’s request that a student who has assaulted that teacher will not be returned to the teacher’s class.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. A. Assault on employees by students and/or parent(s) shall be regarded by district authorities as a matter of grave concern. The district recognizes the lawful right of an employee to protect himself/herself or a student in a case of an unavoidable physical or verbal assault. In any case, when an assault occurs during the assaulted employee's performance of his/her school duties, such assault shall be reported to the building principal and other proper authorities immediately.
B. 1. In the event of an assault upon an employee by a student and/or parent(s), the Board shall render reasonable assistance to the employee in dealing with law enforcement authorities who may investigate such incident.

Any student and / or parent(s) committing an assault upon an employee shall be subject to disciplinary action pursuant to Board policy, including suspension and / or expulsion where appropriate. The employee shall be consulted by the principal or designee before any consequences for a student are determined. The employee shall receive a written copy of the consequences to be imposed on a student. Any affected employee shall be entitled to a conference with the principal before readmittance to the classroom of an assaulting student. As used in this article "assault" means the infliction of physical injury or the use or threat of force upon the body of the employee without consent.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. An assaulted employee shall submit a written report within two (2) days, or as soon as possible thereafter, of any assault suffered by the employee in connection with the employee’s employment and shall submit a signed report to the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall immediately cause an investigation to be made and, on the basis of the investigation, shall take the action that the Superintendent deems appropriate. Upon request of the assaulted employee, the attorney for the District shall inform the employee of his/her rights pursuant to the law.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. When a physical assault occurs, the employee has the right to defend himself/herself and/or obtain assistance. The principal or designee should be immediately notified of the incident and take appropriate action which may include calling the police, parent(s), and/or the Executive Director/Designee. If the principal/coordinator is not available, the employee may call any administrative designee. The Board shall defend and indemnify the employee to the extent required by law. In all cases, the Executive Director’s office shall immediately notify the employee of any legal aid from MVSEC that may be necessary.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. An employee assaulted while performing duties on behalf of the Board shall promptly report the incident to the Superintendent or his/her designee. In the event the assault renders the employee incapable of performing his/her duties, the employee may use accumulated sick leave, or if the employee receives worker's compensation benefits, the Board shall continue to pay the employee the difference between the worker's compensation benefits and the employee's base salary for the first thirty (30) days that the employee is disabled. Under no circumstances shall the employee receive more than 100% of his/her salary from any and all sources during this period. Thereafter, the employee may use accumulated sick leave during the disability period provided, however, that in the event the employee receives worker's compensation benefits for said disability, the employee in no event may receive more than 100% of his/her salary for the disability period. The Board of Education shall provide protection from suit for employees as required in the School Code.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. Any case of unprovoked assault upon an Employee while on duty for the Board will be promptly reported to the Board or its designee. If the Board deems it appropriate, it will provide reasonable assistance to the Employee in connection with the handling of the incident by the appropriate authorities.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. Any case of assault upon an Employee while at the work place shall be promptly reported to the Board or its designee. The Board shall provide legal counsel to the Employee to advise the Employee of his/her rights and obligations with respect to such assault and shall render all reasonable assistance to the Employee in handling the incident by law enforcement and judicial authorities.
ASSAULT ON EMPLOYEES. Employees shall immediately report cases of assault and/or battery suffered by them in connection with their employment to the principal or his/her designee who shall immediately take appropriate action. Such notification shall be immediately forwarded to the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall provide the employee with data within his/her possession and control which is pertinent to the incident in question, and the Superintendent’s Office shall act as liaison between the teacher and other community agencies.
