Bereavement/Critical Illness Leave. Temporary leave of absence shall be granted by the School Division, with pay, according to the following schedule:

Bereavement/Critical Illness Leave. Each Paraeducator shall be entitled to a maximum of five (5) days leave with pay per occurrence for absence caused by death. The employee shall also receive five (5) days leave with pay per year for absence caused by critical illness as verified by a physician or hospital, of a Paraeducator’s child, spouse, parent, sibling, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, or any other relative living in the same family unit. Critical illness leave is limited to five days per year. The Superintendent may grant additional days of leave. Days beyond the five, shall be deducted from sick leave. Bereavement and critical illness leave is non-cumulative.
Bereavement/Critical Illness Leave. Four (4) days absence or six (6) days if out-of-state travel is required, with pay, will be allowed (per occurrence) for critical illness or death of any member of an employee’s immediate family. When out of country travel is required, additional time may be granted by the Superintendent/Designee. Critical illness means an illness where death is probably imminent or expected. Such leave is not cumulative from year to year. Absence because of illness or the death of a member of the immediate family must be reported to the employee’s immediate supervisor and the REPORT OF ABSENCE FORM must be submitted to the immediate supervisor either prior to or upon return to work. Members of the immediate family, as used in this section, means: the spouse and/or domestic partner of the employee and the parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in law, daughters- in-law, and step family members of the employee, spouse and/or domestic partner, or any relative living in the immediate household of the employee.   • Critical Illness Leave (i) An Employee who has completed at least ninety (90) days of employment, and is a family member of a critically ill child or a critically ill qualified adult relative, is entitled to leave of absence without pay or benefits: • for a period of up to thirty-six (36) weeks to care for their critically ill child; or, • for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks to care for a critically ill qualified adult relative.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • Illness Leave A. Illness is defined as any pronounced deviation from a normal health state which makes it disadvantageous to the District and/or detrimental to the employee for him/her to be at work. This definition shall include emergency medical, dental, optical, and prosthetic work.

  • Family Illness Leave An employee will be granted leave of absence for up to five (5) days per year without loss of pay or benefits for family illness. Additional family illness leave may be granted by the employer.

  • Extended Illness Leave 1. Extended Illness Leave, hereinafter referred to as “EIL” shall be established for Administrative Support Group, XXXX, Clerical, and Educational Assistant personnel who are absent due to their own personal illness or injury following the exhaustion of their accumulated illness, vacation and annual allotment of short term leave. Eligibility for Extended Illness Leave includes completion of employee’s probationary period.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • BEREAVEMENT PAY 22.01 Should a bereavement occur in an employee's immediate family (parent, parent-in- law, spouse, child, brother, sister, grandparent, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, step-parent or step-child) the employee shall be granted such time off from work with pay as is reasonable under the circumstances, up to a maximum of three (3) days.
