Eligible Family Member. The definition of “Eligible family member” contained in SMC 4.24.005 shall be amended by the elimination of the existing phrase “who is (a) under eighteen (18) years of age; or (b) eighteen (18) years of age or older and incapable of self care because of a mental or physical disability” and the addition of the word “sibling.”

Eligible Family Member. The definition of “Eligible family member” contained in SMC 4.24.005 shall be amended by the elimination of the existing phrase “who is (a) under eighteen (18) years of age; or (b) eighteen (18) years of age or older and incapable of self care because of a mental or physical disability” and the addition of the word “sibling.” The expressed purpose for the proposed modification of said definition shall be to allow an employee to use sick leave because of an illness, injury, or health care appointment of an employee’s sibling or adult child, or the sibling or adult child of an employee’s spouse or domestic partner, in instances where the absence of the employee from work is required, or when such absence is recommended by a health care provider.
Eligible Family Member. 3.6.1 Extended Funeral Leave includes: Parent, Spouse, or Child (including adopted, step and legal guardian).
Eligible Family Member. An eligible family member includes a spouse, parent(s), and natural, adopted, step, or xxxxxx children. ▪ Child Child means a biological, adoptive, or xxxxxx child, a stepchild, a legal xxxx, or a child of a person who has day-to-day responsibilities to care for and finically support that child. In Massachusetts, this includes same-sex marriage. ▪ Parent Parent means a biological, adoptive, step or xxxxxx parent or any other individual who had day-to-day responsibility to care for and financially support the employee when he or she was a child. The term does not include parents “in law.” ▪ Covered Veteran Covered Veteran means a former member of the Armed Forces or National Guard who is undergoing medical treatment, recuperation, or therapy for a serious injury or illness, and who was discharged or released from service under conditions other than dishonorable at any time during the five (5) year period prior to the first date the eligible employee takes FMLA leave to care for the covered veteran.
