Faculty Development Program. In order to support scholarship and professional development the University shall fund a multifaceted Faculty Development Program that reflects both the need for members to fulfill the tasks of scholarly and scientific research, writing, teaching, advising, supporting student health and wellness and all other aspects of the mission of the University. All members, including tenure-related faculty, non-tenure track faculty and academic professionals, shall be eligible to apply for and receive funds through this program. The Faculty Development Program, as allocated in Section 4, will be administered by the Faculty Development Committee (a Faculty Senate committee), with oversight by the Xxxxxxx or the Xxxxxxx'x designee. The Committee shall be composed of members selected by the Committee on Committees (a Faculty Senate committee) and representative of the breadth of the university faculty including tenure- related faculty, non-tenure track faculty and academic professionals.

Faculty Development Program. The Board and the AFT believe that excellence in instruction will be encouraged through provision for instructional evaluation, in-service education, development grants to individuals and groups, and attendance at professional conferences. Accordingly, the District shall support such activities through the Faculty Development Advisory Committee, as described in Section 12.2. The function of the Faculty Development Advisory Committee shall be to develop procedures and an annual plan and budget for faculty or joint faculty-administration proposals for any of the activities listed in the first paragraph of this section. The plan and budget for the following year shall provide for a reasonable balance among campuses and types of activities. The procedures and the annual plan and budget shall be submitted to the chancellor for approval by the first week of Spring Quarter. The Committee's procedures shall include criteria and a process for the submission and screening of grant proposals. The final recommendations by the Committee for funding of proposals shall be submitted to the chancellor for approval.
Faculty Development Program. This would use a maximum of $125,000 year, plus $9,000-10,000 in actual costs to replace released faculty, assuming sufficient quality proposals were submitted to the Faculty Development Committee. (a) The University agrees to support the Faculty Development Program to which it will contribute each academic year of this contract the maximum amounts of money delineated in Table 17.10. (b) The Faculty agrees to put forth its best efforts to raise the corresponding matching amount for the program by either (a) writing development grants or (b) by including faculty development activities in other grant proposals. (c) In addition, the University agrees to support 25% release time for up to three (3) faculty members each year for the pursuit of uncompensated scholarly work including, but not limited to, writing a book for which a contract has been signed, editing a book, writing a research proposal to a funding agency, preparing a major exhibition of art work or photography, preparing a major musical or theater performance, serving as editor or assistant editor for a peer reviewed publication, serving as an officer for a national or international professional society, and other similar scholarly work that develops the faculty member professionally and brings recognition or benefit to the University. The cost of release time charged to Faculty Development funds will be the actual cost to the university (i.e., cost of up to three adjuncts or over-time pay to three faculty or some combination thereof). (d) The Guidelines and Due Dates developed by the 2022-2023 Standing Committee on Faculty Development, as approved by the faculty, shall govern the distribution of Faculty Development Funds.

The modalities will be worked out on the basis of the duration, gap areas, nature of workshop, place of training etc. at the time of offering the program. 2. BIFT faculty / faculty groups may come to NIFT for training or NIFT may send faculty members to BIFT to train their faculty at BIFT which will be decided in writing from time to time. 3. Detailed modalities will be worked out at the time of training programs.

Such reduction in individual workload shall not exceed twelve (12) hours per week for librarians, counselors and learning resources faculty or six (6) equivalent semester hours per semester for other faculty members, for a maximum of four (4) semesters. Xxxxxxxxxx College shall reimburse faculty members granted such reduced workload for the cost of tuition and related fees necessary to achieve such minimum qualifications up to the amount that is charged by the University of Maryland for resident students, as well as for required books not to exceed fifty dollars ($50) per course. An application for reduced workload under this Section 9.5, which shall include a statement of the courses to be pursued, shall be submitted, in writing, to the Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Services or designee, not later than one hundred twenty (120) days prior to the beginning of the academic period in which the course(s) is to be offered. A faculty member granted a reduced workload under this Section 9.5 shall fulfill the requirements necessary to meet minimum qualifications not later than twenty-four (24) months after such reduced workload commences and shall thereafter continue in the employ of Xxxxxxxxxx College for the next succeeding four (4) full academic semesters, unless otherwise notified by Xxxxxxxxxx College.   • Professional Development Program (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members. (b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member. (c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.

  • Curriculum Development This includes the analysis and coordination of textual materials; constant review of current literature in the field, some of which are selected for the college library collection, the preparation of selective, descriptive materials such as outlines and syllabi; conferring with other faculty and administration on curricular problems; and, the attendance and participation in inter and intra-college conferences and advisory committees.
