Family Needs Leave. 14.4.1 A teacher shall be granted one (1) day leave of absence with pay and benefits per school calendar year for the purpose of supporting a teacher’s child, spouse, or other dependent family member when taking care of obligations/needs where the assistance of the teacher is required. Any absence from the work site for family needs leave shall be recorded as such. The reduction in the entitlement for each occurrence of family needs leave shall be a minimum of one-half (1/2) day.
Family Needs Leave. 14.2.1. A family needs day may be taken with pay and benefits per school calendar year for the purpose of supporting a teacher’s spouse, child, parent (or spouse’s parent), or grandparent (or spouse’s grandparent) when taking care of family obligations / needs where the assistance of the teacher is required.
14.2.2. Where a teacher has entitlement to accrue two (2) full-day personal leave in accordance with article 12, the teacher shall be granted two (2) days family needs leave of absence.
14.2.3. Where a teacher has entitlement to accrue two (2) half-day personal leave days in accordance with article 12, the teacher shall be granted one day (1) day family needs leave of absence.
14.2.4. Family needs leaves must be taken in half-day (0.5) increments.
14.2.5. These days are not subject to carry-over or payout.
Family Needs Leave. 14.5.1. A teacher on a continuous or probationary contract shall be granted one (1) day leave of absence per school year, without loss of salary, for the purpose of supporting your family when taking care of your obligations/needs, where the assistance of the teacher is required. Any absence from the work site for family needs leave shall be recorded as such. The reduction in the entitlement for each occurrence of family needs leave shall be a minimum of one-half day.
14.5.2. For the purpose of clause 14.5.1 “family” means your family, including the teacher’s spouse, child, parent, or someone whom the teacher has legal guardianship over.
Family Needs Leave. 14.8.1. A teacher shall be granted two (2) days family needs leave per school year without loss of salary or benefits and without deductions for substitute pay providing that:
14.8.1.1. The absence is to take care of obligations / needs of the teacher’s child, spouse, parent, parent-in-law, and members living in the teacher’s household,
14.8.1.2. A substitute is available,
14.8.1.3. A planned program is available for the substitute, and
14.8.1.4. The notice is submitted in writing to the principal.
14.8.2. These days must be used in the current school year with no carry-over.
Family Needs Leave. 14.2.1 Effective September 1, 2017, in any one school year, six (6) days with pay and benefits will be provided for the care of an ill family member, make arrangements for medical care of a family member, travel for out of town medical or dental treatment, attend to other legal or business issues necessary for long-term or emergent support of a family member. Where possible, the teacher will provide written notice to the School Division.
14.2.2 Immediate family members shall be defined as the employee’s spouse, child, parent or other individual for whom the employee is the legal guardian or appointed caretaker.
Family Needs Leave. 14.2.1 A teacher may use up to four (4) days per school year with pay and benefits for the purpose of supporting the medical, legal or business needs of their child, spouse or parent, where the assistance of the teacher is required.
Family Needs Leave. 14.8.1. Leave with pay and benefits for one (1) day per school year shall be granted to teachers to provide care for a family member, make arrangements for medical care of a family member, or attend to other legal or business issues necessary for long-term or emergent support of a family member. Family members include a spouse, parent, spouse’s parent, child, or a member of the teacher’s household.
Family Needs Leave. (This clause expires when clause 14.6 below comes into effect)
14.5.1 A teacher may use up to three days of sick leave per year to attend to the needs of the teacher’s parent, spouse, adult interdependent partner and/or child.
Family Needs Leave. Effective on the date of ratification, in any one school year, teachers will have access to one day leave with full pay and benefits to provide care for a family member, make arrangements for medical care of a family member, or to attend to other legal or business issues necessary for long-term or emergent support of a family member. Family member is defined as spouse, child, parent, sibling, or any individual who is a member of the teacher's household.
Family Needs Leave. Employees shall be entitled to, when needed, up to four (4) family medical days in a school year with no loss of pay for the sickness of a spouse, a child, or a parent. It is understood that use of these days will not take away from or deduct from the Employees otherwise entitled personal sick leave referenced in Article 8.
