HIRING PREFERENCES.
A. The University shall recognize the following order of hiring preferences:
1. LAYOFFS Workers who have been permanently or indefinitely laid off, or given notice of such layoff, shall be appointed to open positions in the department from which the worker was laid off. Such appointment shall be in seniority order if they possess sufficient skill and ability to perform without additional training (as differentiated from orientation) the actually expected work without substantial impairment of the work group. Such employees shall be given preference, if qualified, over promotional, transfer and other candidates for other job openings covered by this Agreement unless the position requires unique skills and abilities that the laid off workers do not possess below.
HIRING PREFERENCES. (a) It is the intent of the Parties that preference in appointments to job vacancies, MoveUP jurisdiction shall be given to Local 378 MoveUP members presently on the Employer's staff, in this order:
1. For regular positions, regular employees in accordance with the provisions of article 9.14.
2. For regular positions, regular employees in accordance with Article 9.
HIRING PREFERENCES. (a) It is the intent of the Parties that preference in appointments to job vacancies, MoveUP jurisdiction shall be given to Local 378 MoveUP members presently on the Employer's staff, in this order:
1. For regular positions, regular employees in accordance with the provisions of article 9.14.
2. For regular positions, regular employees in accordance with Article 9.13. In the event that a vacant position arises concurrent with the displacement of an employee who has the ability to perform the job and there is an employee(s) on recall who also has the ability to perform the job, preference for the offer of the position shall be given to the senior employee.
3. All other employees regardless of status under Article 1.06. If a junior candidate is selected from any of the above preference categories, Article 7.10(d) will apply such that all of the more senior candidates previously considered and rejected must be reconsidered to determine if the junior candidate’s ability to perform the vacant job is significantly and demonstrably higher than all of those more senior candidates.
(b) If at any time the Union is of the opinion that such preference has not been given, and the Employer selects from outside the bargaining unit, the Union shall have the right to grieve such selection. Where the Employer selects from outside the bargaining unit, the same ability requirements will be maintained.
HIRING PREFERENCES. Impacted employees may apply for any available position. If an employee expresses interest and/or applies before 5:00 pm, on June 14, 2024, the employee will not have to compete with external applicants, provided a job offer has not been extended to an external applicant by the date of the employee’s application. Upon receiving interest from an employee, HR will notify them of whether or not an external offer had already been made. For lateral positions into like positions (i.e., Specialist to Specialist) the employee will not have to formally apply or interview, instead they will let Human Resources know in writing (email to the HR inbox is acceptable) what position(s) they are interested in. The Employer reserves the right to discuss the position with the impacted employee prior to extending an offer to ensure the impacted employee is interested in the position and has a clear understanding of the position’s duties, requirements, work locations, schedules, and shifts. For transition into different positions (i.e., Specialist to Non-Specialist positions), the employee will be required to follow the formal application process. If more than one qualified employee expresses interest in the same position, it will be offered to the employee with the highest seniority, as determined by date of hire. In no case will an employee have a reduction in their hourly wage rate as a result of the layoff and moving into a new position. If an NRK employee applies to and is offered a new position within the organization, requests to remain with the NRK program past the start date for the new position will not be unreasonably denied; however, the Employer reserves the right to unilaterally determine the start date for the new position. New Positions That Become Available After June 14, 2024: The Employer will provide bargaining unit employees with the first opportunity and hiring preference for any new position that becomes available after June 14, 2024, provided those employees apply to the position and are qualified. The Parties further agree that this hiring preference terminates June 30, 2024. Impacted Employees who choose not to apply to a new/different position will be separated from employment (i.e., laid off) on June 30, 2024.

Subject to compliance with the preferential notification procedures referred to above, all Permanent Employers may at all times consider applicants referred or recruited through any source, and may use normal hiring practices, including interviews, to consider all referred applicants.
a. Exclusive Initial Hiring. When making initial hires for the commencement of the Permanent Employer’s operations, the Permanent Employer will hire only Local Low-Income Residents for a three week period following the notification of job opportunities described in subparagraph IV.b.2 above.
HIRING PREFERENCES. During construction of the Hotel, Owner shall use good faith efforts to hire local residents and contract with local subcontractors, suppliers and other businesses.

HIRING PREFERENCES. Employees interested in opportunities at HBC may apply to vacancies listed in the xxx.xxx.xxx – Careers Option. Ecommerce employees will be given priority consideration for Ecommerce job opportunities at an Ecommerce location in the Greater Metropolitan Toronto Area. Interested Ecommerce employees will be responsible for making an application to the respective location. Ecommerce employees will receive a letter notifying them of the application process.
