HOW OVERTIME IS AUTHORIZED. Work for the County by an employee at times other than those so scheduled shall be approved in advance by the Agency/Department Head, or in cases of unanticipated emergency, shall be approved by the Agency/Department Head after such emergency work is performed. No employee shall receive compensation for overtime in cash, in time off, or combination thereof unless such overtime work has been approved in writing by the Agency/Department Head as set forth herein.

HOW OVERTIME IS AUTHORIZED. All hours worked for the County shall be in accordance with the employees assigned bi-weekly work schedule. Any overtime hours worked shall be pre-approved in advance by the Agency/Department Head or the Agency/Department Head's representative, except in cases of unanticipated emergency. The unanticipated emergency work performed shall be reported to the assigned supervisor by the next business day.

Overtime will only be offered after extra shifts or hours have been offered to eligible employees on a straight time basis. Effective July 1, 2006, overtime shall first be offered on a voluntary, rotating basis, beginning with the most senior employee within the work unit capable of performing the work required. A list will be maintained in each scheduling unit with the names of employees interested in overtime. Employees may be added to or removed from this list on a monthly basis. In the event there are no volunteers, existing practice of covering vacant hours or shifts shall be followed.

  • Payment for Working Overtime on a Holiday Where an employee is required to work authorized overtime in excess of his regularly scheduled hours on a paid holiday, such employee shall receive twice (2x) his regular straight time hourly rate for such authorized overtime.

  • Payment for Working on a Holiday (The following clause is applicable to full-time employees only) If an employee is required to work on any of the holidays set out in the local Appendix the employee shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2) her regular straight time hourly rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday subject to Article 16.04. In addition, if the employee qualifies in accordance with Article 16.02 above the employee will receive a lieu day off with pay in the amount of the employee's regular straight time hourly rate of pay times the employee's normal daily hours of work.
