Leave Day with Pay. At the beginning of each school year, each Assistant will be credited with two (2) leave days with pay. Any Assistant who works an additional assignment during the summer for nine (9) or more weeks shall receive one (1) additional leave day with pay. This third leave day may be used for recreational purposes during the summer months, provided appropriate substitute arrangements can be made. Each Assistant who is hired and commences employment after the beginning of the year shall be credited with two (2) leave days with pay or a fractional amount thereof as follows: July through December 2 days January through March 1 day April through May ½ day June none The leave days shall not be utilized during an absence for sick leave or during any other leave of absence. An employee taking a leave day shall file a notice of the intent to take such day with their immediate supervisor at least three (3) days prior to the date of such leave (except in the case of emergency∗∗). (An emergency is an incident over which the Assistant has no control.) Such notice shall include a statement that the purpose of the leave is not in violation of reasons 1 through 5 below. Leave Days with Pay shall not be used for: 1. The day before or the day after a holiday, holiday related or vacation day. 2. Recreational pursuits, shopping, or pleasure trip with spouse (including accompanying spouse on business trip). 3. Other employment or seeking new employment. 4. Voluntary child cares. 5. Any other leave provisions in this Agreement. In the event an Assistant does not use all leave days, that portion shall be transferred to his/her regular cumulative sick leave balance. Leave days with pay shall not be cumulative from year to year. A leave day with pay shall be defined as one-tenth of an Assistant's bi-weekly hours. The number of leave days with pay available shall be determined by the Assistant's regularly assigned hours at the time of application for such a leave.

Leave Day with Pay. EMPLOYEES may observe a religious, cultural, or personally meaningful Leave Day With Pay subject to the following conditions. In those offices that must remain open to the public for the performance of public business, the supervisor shall designate a sufficient number of employees to maintain the continuity of County operations on such day. The EMPLOYEE needs the approval of their supervisor and must notify the supervisor at least ten (10) calendar days in advance of their intent to take this Leave Day with Pay. The supervisor may waive the ten-day requirement if they determine that the absence of such EMPLOYEE will not substantially interfere with the DEPARTMENT’S functions.

Leave Day with Pay. 7.01 Two (2) leave days (16 hours), with pay, shall be granted annually to each full- time employee on the employment rolls as of July 1. Each full-time, continuous employee who is hired after the beginning of the fiscal year shall be credited with two (2) leave days with pay or a fractional amount thereof as follows: Secretaries working less than eight (8) hours per day shall be entitled to a pro-rata share of leave days with pay granted to full-time employees. 7.02 The leave days with pay, or fraction thereof, credited to each full-time, continuous employee shall be utilized and charged to the employee in increments of not less than two (2) full hours. (See Memorandum of Understanding, Appendix D, page 36) 7.03 The leave days with pay, or any fraction thereof, shall not be utilized during an absence for sick leave, or during any other leave of absence. 7.04 An employee taking a leave day with pay shall file a notice of the intent to take such day with the secretary's immediate supervisor at least three (3) days prior to the date of such leave (except in the case of emergency*). Such notice shall include a statement of the reason for such leave. 7.05 A. Leave day with pay shall not be used for: 1. Recreational pursuits, shopping or pleasure trip with spouse (including accompanying spouse on business trip). 2. Other employment or seeking new employment. 3. Child care, except for time associated with taking children to appointments during the business day that are not covered by section 6.04 B., such as medical, dental and optical. 4. Any other leave provision in this Agreement. B. Requests for leave days with pay may be denied for: 1. The day before or the day after a holiday, holiday-related or vacation day. 2. The first and last week of each semester. 7.06 In the event an employee does not use a portion of the leave day with pay, that unused portion shall be transferred to the secretary's regular cumulative sick leave balance. Leave days with pay shall not be cumulative from year to year. *An emergency is an unforeseen incident over which the individual has no control and requires immediate attention. The individual should make, and has made, every effort in their power to resolve the situation without taking time off from work. Each case will be decided on its own merits.

  • Leave With Pay Compassionate leave of absence with pay shall be granted for three (3) work days. Up to two (2) additional days with pay shall be granted for travelling time when this is warranted in the judgement of the Employer.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay 26.01 For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother, or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law partner resident with the Employee), child (including child of common-law partner), stepchild or xxxx of the Employee, grandchild, grandparent, spouse’s parents or any relative permanently residing in the Employee's household or with whom the Employee permanently resides. a) When a member of the Employee's immediate family dies, the Employee shall be granted leave with pay for a period up to five (5) days for purposes relating to the bereavement. In addition, they may be granted up to three (3) days' leave for the purpose of travel related to the death. b) An Employee is entitled to one (1) day's bereavement leave with pay for the purpose related to the death of their son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, aunt or uncle. c) If, during a period of sick leave, vacation leave or compensatory leave, an Employee is bereaved in circumstances under which they would have been eligible for bereavement leave with pay under paragraph a) or b) of this clause, the Employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay and their sick leave, vacation leave or compensatory leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent bereavement leave with pay granted. d) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, the Director of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in clauses a) and b) above.

  • VACATION LEAVE WITH PAY 14.01 The vacation year shall be from April 1st of one calendar year to March 31st of the following calendar year inclusive.

  • Court Leave With Pay The Company shall grant leave with pay to an employee for the period of time he or she is required: (a) to be available for jury selection; (b) to serve on a jury; or (c) by subpoena or summons to attend as a witness in any proceeding to which he or she is not a party held: (i) in or under the authority of a court of justice or before a grand jury; (ii) before a court, judge, justice, magistrate or coroner; (iii) before the Senate or House of Commons of Canada, or a committee of the Senate or House of Commons, otherwise than in the performance of the duties of his or her position; (iv) before a legislative council, legislative assembly or house of assembly, or any committee thereof that is authorized by law to compel the attendance of witnesses before it; (v) before an arbitrator or umpire or a person or body of persons authorized by law to make an inquiry and to compel the attendance of witnesses before it, other than an arbitrator appointed under this Collective Agreement or the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

  • Other Leave With Pay The Employer may grant leave with pay for purposes other than those specified in this Agreement, including military or civil defence training, and emergencies affecting the community or place of work.

  • Holiday Premium Pay A Nurse working on a recognized Holiday is entitled to the following compensation for any hours worked on the calendar date of the recognized Holiday: A. A Full-Time or Part-Time Nurse who is regularly scheduled to work on a recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times (1.5 x) the Nurse’s regular rate of pay; or B. A Nurse who works overtime (as defined in Article 7.07) on a recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of two times (2 x) the Nurse’s regular rate of pay for the overtime worked.

  • Holiday Coinciding with a Day of Vacation Where an employee is on vacation leave and a day of paid holiday falls within that period, the paid holiday shall not count as a day of vacation.

  • Examination Leave With Pay At the Employer's discretion, examination leave with pay may be granted to an employee for the purpose of writing an examination which takes place during the employee's scheduled hours of work. Such leave will only be granted where, in the opinion of the Employer, the course of study is directly related to the employee's duties or will improve his or her qualifications.

  • Leaves With Pay Section 1. An employee shall be granted leave with pay for service with a jury. The employee may keep any money paid by the court for serving on a jury. The Agency reserves the right to petition for removal of the employee from jury duty if, in the Agency’s judgment, the operating requirements of the Agency would be hampered. Section 2. Whenever possible, subject to Agency operating requirements, employees selected by proper authority for jury duty will be placed on a day shift, Monday through Friday, during the period they are obligated to jury duty. The Agency shall not suffer any penalty payments for the change in the work schedule of the employee on jury duty. (a) When any employee is not the plaintiff or defendant, he/she shall be granted leave with pay for appearance before a court, legislative committee, or judicial or quasi-judicial body as a witness in response to a subpoena or other direction by proper authority for matters other than the employee’s officially assigned duties. When the employee is granted leave with pay, the employee shall turn into the Agency any money paid in connection with the appearance. (b) When any employee represents an outside business interest and/or acts as an independent expert, he/she shall be granted accrued vacation, compensatory or personal business leave for appearance before a court, legislative committee or judicial or quasi-judicial body as a witness in response to a subpoena or other direction by proper authority for matters other than the employee’s officially assigned duties. The employee may keep any money paid in connection with the appearance. Section 4. An employee shall be on Agency time for attendance in court in connection with an employee’s officially assigned duties, including the time required going to court and returning to his/her official station. When the employee is granted Agency time, the employee shall turn into the Agency any money received for such attendance during duty hours. Section 5. In the event a night or swing shift employee is called to appear under Sections 1, 2, 3(a), or 4 above, he/she shall have release time the day of attendance. Time spent in attendance and in travel to and from his/her headquarters shall be deducted from the regular shift following the attendance with no loss of wages or benefits. Section 6. The State will comply with State and Federal laws for an employee who has served with the State of Oregon or its counties, municipalities, or other political subdivisions for six (6) months or more immediately preceding an application for military leave, and who is a member of the National Guard or of any reserve components of the armed forces of the United States. (See also Institutions Coalition Letters of Agreement 60.2A-13-241 & 60.2CGH-11-223 in Appendix A.) ARTICLE 60T--LEAVES WITH PAY (Temporary Employees) Section 1.
