Other Leave With Pay. 35.21.1 This sub-clause shall encompass, but is not limited to, the following: 35.21.1.1 at its discretion, the Council may grant leave with pay for purposes other than those specified in this Agreement, including military or civil defence training, and emergencies affecting the community or place of work; 35.21.1.2 every employee who is a qualified elector in municipal elections in Canada, shall, for the purpose of casting his vote on an election day, be excused from his regular duties for a period sufficient to allow the employee three (3) consecutive hours to vote immediately prior to the closing of the polls. In exceptional circumstances where the distance that the employee must travel in order to cast his vote requires more than this time, reasonable time off beyond that provided above may be granted; 35.21.1.3 with reference to federal and provincial elections, excused duty for voting purposes shall be sufficient to allow an employee who is a qualified elector the number of consecutive hours to vote immediately prior to closing of the polls specified in the Canada Elections Act or the relevant provincial election act.

Other Leave With Pay. 14.1 Regular full-time employees will be eligible for two (2) non-cumulative days of personal business leave to be used each contract year for special occasions when they cannot attend to personal business on their own time. Employees wishing to be excused for Personal Business leave will not be allowed the leave during the new hire introductory period or during the last two (2) weeks of employment, or the day before or after a holiday, vacation, or sick day except in an emergency, which emergency shall be fully explained and/or documented as soon as possible. Any of the two (2) Personal Business days which are unused each year shall be added to the employee's accumulated sick leave. 14.2 A bereavement leave with pay up to five (5) consecutive days may be granted in the event of the death of: • Spouse or domestic partner • Child (or any child that the employee is acting in loco parentis) • Parent, step parent, adoptive parent, or xxxxxx parent A bereavement leave with pay up to three (3) consecutive days may be granted in the event of the death of: • Sibling • Aunt and uncle • Nephew and niece • Grandchildren • Grand parents • Parents-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law This leave is for the purpose of attending the funeral, which includes such related events as the wake or visitation. Proof of death may be requested by the College. In the event that additional time beyond the allocated bereavement leave is needed, the employee may use personal days and/or vacation days (in that order) to extend the absence. Personal and vacation days may only be used to the extent they have been accrued. 14.3 An employee called for jury duty, or who has been subpoenaed as a witness, may be granted special leave to fulfill this duty. The College shall compensate the employee who is required to serve as a juror, or who has been subpoenaed as a witness in a proceeding in which the employee has no financial stake, the amount of pay he/she would have received from the College for all straight time hours missed from work during such a period of leave. Reimbursement received for out-of-pocket expenses during jury duty shall not be considered as pay. The employee shall present proof of such service.

In the latter case leave may be at part-pay. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

In exceptional circumstances where the distance that the employee must travel in order to vote requires more than this time, reasonable time off beyond that provided above may be granted; (c) with reference to federal and provincial elections, excused duty for voting purposes shall be sufficient to allow an employee the number of consecutive hours to vote immediately prior to closing of the polls specified in the Canada Elections Act or the relevant provincial election act; (d) at the Council's discretion, special leave with pay may be granted if required to enable an employee to attend to urgent business arising from a serious domestic contingency or difficulty.
Other Leave With Pay. At its discretion, the Gallery may grant leave with pay for purposes or amounts other than those specified in this Agreement when circumstances prevent the employee from reporting for duty. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

Other Leave With Pay. ‌ GENERAL‌ D6.01 For the purpose of this article, family is defined as relatives permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides. This includes a spouse (or common-law spouse resident with the employee), dependent children (including children of legal or common-law spouse) and parents (including stepparents). D6.02 During periods of leave with pay under this article, employees shall be paid for those days on which they were scheduled to work but did not work because of such leave. D6.03 At the request of the Employer, employees shall provide the necessary proof of the need for use of leave as set out in this article, such as medical certificates satisfactory to the Employer, proof of appointments or proof of travel related to the leave. Where such proof is in the form of a medical certificate, the Employer will reimburse the employee for a reasonable charge made by the practitioner issuing the certificate upon provision of the appropriate receipt. D6.04 Employees on leave without pay or under suspension for cause are not eligible for leave under this article.
