Leave of Absence for Union or Public Duties. An employee who is elected or selected for a position with the Union or anybody with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority for up to thirty-six (36) calendar months. An employee not returned to the bargaining unit within thirty-six (36) calendar months from the start of the leave shall forfeit all bargaining unit seniority. An employee, who is elected to public office, shall be granted a leave of absence equal to their first term in office. An employee not returned to the bargaining unit after this leave shall forfeit all bargaining unit seniority.
