Membership Packets. The Union representative may supply membership packets which contain information for distribution to employees in the unit, including the role of the Union representative, the membership application and a copy of this Agreement as well as other material mutually agreed to by the State and the Union representative. The State agrees to distribute such membership packets to all employees in the unit at the time such employees receive the copies of this Agreement and to new employees during the initial phases of employment which shall not ordinarily exceed twenty (20) days from the date of employment.

It is the responsibility of the union to orient incoming HSO to their rights and responsibilities with regard to CIR, therefore, both parties agree, the CIR representative shall be allowed to meet with new employees during their orientation period at a time when they are not involved in training to explain the Union’s responsibilities. This orientation to CIR may also be facilitated by tabling in high traffic areas of the university property and introductory e-mails to HSO, sent by CIR.

It is the responsibility of the union to orient incoming HSO to their rights and responsibilities with regard to CIR, therefore, both parties agree, the CIR representative shall be scheduled to meet with new employees during their orientation period for a period of time no less than 45 minutes, at a time when they are not involved in training to explain the Union’s responsibilities. Such meeting shall take place within 30 calendar days from the date of hire. This orientation to CIR may also be facilitated by tabling in high traffic areas of the university property and introductory e-mails to HSO, sent by CIR. The Union shall be allowed to schedule meetings with any groups of new employees who do not participate in the University’s orientation. Such meetings shall not interfere with or interrupt normal University operations.

1. The authority shall provide each new employee (not including temporary, seasonal, or on-call employees) with an MSEA-SEIU furnished membership packet within one (1) work week following the employee’s first day of work and within the same time frame shall notify MSEA- SEIU of the new employee’s name and work location.
2. The contents of the membership packet shall be restricted to routine materials pertaining to membership, services and programs of MSEA-SEIU or its Maine Turnpike Chapter.
3. The Authority may refuse to include in the packet for distribution any materials which it considers to be controversial or derogatory of the Authority or of any of its personnel.

The University will provide a fifteen (15) minute period during the new staff member's training period to allow an OPEIU Local 153 representative to meet and explain the Union's responsibilities. If the Local representative cannot be present during such training period, the Local Union President will be allowed to make such a presentation to a maximum of twelve (12) times per year.

The Hospital agrees to distribute such membership packets to new staff during the initial phase of employment. The Hospital will provide a thirty (30) minute period during the new staff member's orientation period to allow a Teamsters Local 97 representative to meet and explain the Union's responsibilities. If the Local representative cannot be present during such orientation period, the Local Union President, or designee will be allowed to make such a presentation to a maximum of twelve (12) times per year.

The Employer agrees to provide each new employee in the Security Services Unit with a membership packet furnished by the Union within one workweek following his first day of work and to the extent possible on the first day of work. The materials which may be included in such packet shall be subject to the restrictions set forth in paragraphs 5.1(c) and 5.1(d) of this Article.
