PART-TIME AND SEASONAL EMPLOYEES. Seasonal employees are those working Monday through Friday from March 15th through October 15th. Part-time employees are those working no more than thirty (30) hours in one calendar week nor more than 120 hours (on a forty-hour basis) per month Monday through Friday, but not one in the classified service who has survived the applicable probationary period. Part-time employees will not be utilized beyond these defined limits unless (1) properly made full-time or (2) other full-time employees in the classification are not available. Part-time and Seasonal employees will not be offered overtime assignments unless all regular full-time bargaining unit employees in the bargaining unit have been offered the overtime assignment or unless the overtime is a result of completing their daily work assignment.

Part-time Positions will be filled in accordance with Civil Service Rules (Duluth City Code Chapter 13) and existing practices and procedures used for full-time Employees as set forth in this contract for full-time Employees. Part-time Positions that increase from under 24 hours a week averaged per pay period to more than 24 hours a week averaged per pay period, or from under 30 hours a week averaged per pay period to more than 30 hours a week averaged per pay period, will be reposted and interested Employees will be selected off the appropriate Civil Service list and in accordance with Civil Service Rules (Duluth City Code Chapter 13).

The Company recognizes the Union as the sole bargaining agent for all part-time and seasonal employees, with respect to wages, hours of work and other terms of working conditions or employment, save and except Managers, Supervisors, Department Heads, Accounting and Clerical Staff. An employee is considered to be Part-time when is not regularly scheduled to work more than twenty-four (24) hours in a work week. An employee is considered to be Seasonal when period of employment are defined as occurring between May and September each year, and during the Christmas period from December and January and Spring Break period from February and March New hire Part-time employees and Seasonal employees will serve a probation period of ninety (90)calendar days of employment. Absences of ten or more days during the probationary period will not be credited towards fulfilling the probationary period. Part-time employees will be permitted to bid such part-time shifts (and days off) as may be available at the work loca- tion based upon seniority and classification. Seasonal employees will be assigned their work schedules.
PART-TIME AND SEASONAL EMPLOYEES. Effective January 1, 2023, part- time employees will be paid $16.80 per hour and stay at that rate with no movement. Effective July 1, 2023, part-time and seasonal employees will be paid $17.13 per hour and stay at that rate with no movement.

Seasonal employees may be employed for a period not to exceed sixteen (16) weeks in a calendar year and will not be employed during a period when a bargaining unit employee is laid off. Part time employees will generally work a maximum of 999 hours per year unless authorized by the Village Administrator with the consent and approval of the Mayor and Board of Trustees. A part time employee will not be employed during a period where a bargaining unit employee is laid off.
