PREPARATION PERIODS--CLASSROOM TEACHERS. Preparation periods are any periods during the workday when classroom teachers do not have classroom obligations. Preparation periods are intended to allow faculty unit members to prepare their instructional plans and materials, and engage in other work-related non-classroom obligations. Class preparation time at the School for the Blind and the Visually Impaired will not amount to less than 60 minutes per workday, nor less than 400 minutes per workweek. Part-time faculty unit members' class preparation time will be prorated for those who do not have a full-time teaching assignment. Class preparation time will also be prorated during those weeks when classes meet less than the normal workweek. The administration will schedule planning times for unit members assigned to provide classroom instruction to facilitate collaborative planning or staff meetings. The administration may require unit members to devote planning time to such collaborative activities.

PREPARATION PERIODS--CLASSROOM TEACHERS. Each elementary teacher shall receive a minimum of five hundred five (505) minutes of preparation time per five (5) day week subject to the following conditions: a. At least two hundred eighty (280) minutes of the preparation time shall be scheduled during the student day with at least one (1) continuous forty (40) minute preparation period provided each work day. The remaining preparation time shall be provided in blocks of not less than twenty (20) minutes except that preparation time which is scheduled in conjunction with the employee’s lunch period. b. Except in unusual circumstances, such as weather emergencies, employees will receive a forty-five (45) minute preparation period prior to student contact. Preparation time scheduled prior to the student day may be used by administrators and supervisors to conduct meetings with the employees. The use of the preparation time prior to student contact shall be limited to no more than eight (8) meetings per month with no more than three (3) such meetings per employee during a five (5) day work week nor more than one (1) meeting per day, during the preparation time of elementary teachers. MDE, IEP, MTSS or PDE equivalent meetings shall not be considered in this provision, it being understood between the parties that such meetings may only be conducted during the preparation time prior to student contact. c. Morning meetings will not be scheduled during the week prior to the student interim reports due date. If a teacher attends a morning meeting, the District shall not conduct any other meetings for the teacher on that day. Furthermore, if the District conducts a meeting during an elementary teachers’ scheduled preparation time, the topics of discussion for said meeting shall not be topics of discussion that could be discussed in a morning meeting. d. This provision relating to preparation periods shall not apply at those times when special activities/programs are scheduled. Special activities/programs shall include but shall not be limited to field trips, conferences, curriculum meetings/planning sessions, and in-service programs. e. For purposes of this article, classroom teachers shall be defined as K-5 homeroom, coaches, special education, ELD, academic support and Title I.

  • Preparation Periods 31-1 The School District agrees to maintain daily preparation periods during the student day in all junior and senior high schools. At schools where block scheduling is in effect, the total preparation time provided shall be equal to the preparation time provided at schools not operating on a block schedule. 31-2 The School District shall maintain at each elementary school a minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes preparation time per week per teacher, during the students’ instructional day, in not less than forty- (40) minute blocks. Each elementary school shall be allocated and assigned library aide hours per school day in accordance with the following schedule: This aide time is provided in addition to the assigned media clerk time. Library aide time is guaranteed for the school year once set on a school year basis. There will be no changes in library aide time allocated due to fluctuation in enrollment. This provision for allocating library aide time will only remain as part of this Agreement if librarians are used to provide preparation time to elementary teachers. 31-3 Preparation time provided for in this Article shall be utilized by teachers in a manner which enables further development and refinement of professional skills and for instructional effectiveness. 31-4 Although it does not relate to any mandatory subject of bargaining, the School District states that it is its aim and objective to establish a maximum class load of thirty (30) students in grades 4, 5, and 6. 00-0 Xxx Xxxxxxxx may direct use of teacher preparation periods if such directed use is infrequent, advance notice is given and the District’s use of the teacher’s preparation period must not consume an entire period.

  • Preparation Period During the preparation period, a teacher will have no other assignment except in an emergency situation. It is recognized that the preparation period is a scheduled part of the teacher's work day and the teacher is expected to be in his/her respective Building. If the teacher must leave the Building during his/her preparation and/or lunch period, he/she must notify the Building switchboard operator.

  • Splitting of Vacation Periods ‌ Annual vacations for employees with ten (10) work days’ vacation or more shall be granted in one (1) continuous period but may, upon request from the employee, be divided, subject to the approval of the Employer, provided that the following shall apply: 1. The Employer’s approval shall not be unreasonably withheld, taking into consideration the operational requirements of the department; and 2. At least one block of vacation shall be at least five (5) days in duration. Employees wishing to split their vacations shall exercise seniority rights in the choice of the first vacation period. Seniority shall prevail in the choice of the second vacation period, but only after all other “first” vacation periods have been approved. Seniority shall also prevail in the choice of each subsequent vacation period, but only after each previous vacation period has been approved. Annual vacations for employees with less than ten (10) work days’ vacation shall be granted in one (1) continuous period.

  • Preparatory Contract Negotiations Meetings Where operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave without pay to an employee to attend preparatory contract negotiations meetings.

  • Contract Transition Upon Contract expiration or termination, the Contractor shall ensure a seamless transfer of Contract responsibilities with any subsequent Contractor necessary to transition the Products and services of the Contract. The incumbent Contractor assumes all expenses related to the contract transition.

  • Scheduled RDOs on Designated Long Weekends It is recognised that there is merit in programming no work on the RDOs adjacent to public holiday weekends during the working year. This will allow Employees to have quality paid family leisure time.

  • Vacation Periods Vacation schedules will be set by the employee’s immediate supervisor(s) and sent to the Office of Human Resources for approval. Employees may request a particular period for vacation. Vacation days may not be taken in advance of their accrual. Those employees who are on a 12-month teacher contract are paid during Spring Break and Winter Recess, however, are not expected to be in attendance or perform duties during those breaks.

  • Meal Periods (a) Meal periods shall be scheduled as close as possible to the middle of the scheduled hours of work. The length of the meal period shall be agreed to at the local level and shall be not less than 30 minutes nor more than 60 minutes. (b) An employee shall be entitled to take their meal period away from the workstation. Where this cannot be done, the meal period shall be considered as time worked.

  • Meal Period A Contractor shall schedule an unpaid period of not more than 1/2 hour duration at the work location between the 3rd and 5th hour of the scheduled shift. A Contractor may, for efficiency of operation, establish a schedule which coordinates the meal periods of two or more crafts. If an employee is required to work through the meal period, the employee shall be compensated in a manner established in the applicable Schedule A.

  • Negotiation Period The Parties shall negotiate in good faith and attempt to resolve any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement (a “Dispute”) within 30 days after the date that a Party gives written notice of such Dispute to the other Party.
