Professional Learning Community (PLC). An extended learning opportunity to xxxxxx collaborative learning among colleagues within a particular work environment or subject area designed to meet the educational needs of the school’s students. • Instructional time - Time spent conducting activities that meet lesson plan, curriculum, AIP’s or IEP’s is instructional time. • Non-instructional duty - Time spent supervising students in which no curriculum, lesson plan, AIP or IEP goals are met. • Student Contact time - Time during which a teacher has direct responsibility for students; may include both instructional and non-instructional time.
Professional Learning Community (PLC). Bargaining unit members shall have a minimum of sixty (60) minutes of Professional Learning Community time each Wednesday, to be used at the discretion of each PLC team, except in weeks in which protected mid-quarter grading time and/or School Improvement Meetings (SIP) are scheduled.

A Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a collaborative professional development process that recognizes the importance of input from teachers in their own area of expertise in curriculum and professional development issues. PLCs are intended to move a school toward its mission and vision of improving student learning. It is understood that the following would best describe the intent of the PLC as an analysis of data to develop effective strategies to improve student learning and/or improve student behavior according to designated school improvement initiatives. The days are planned by teacher teams in collaboration with principals with reports provided to principals.

Professional Learning Community (PLC). Days The purpose of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) includes time for educators to work together to share, discuss and apply research-based, best instructional practices using the Xxxxxxx Instructional Framework. PLCs are teacher-centered with administrative guidance to focus on our mission and goals. Early release time set aside for this purpose may include learning about instructional practices that result in improved student learning; reviewing and analyzing data to enhance instruction; and coordinating curriculum to align to Common Core standards and state standards where appropriate. Facilitators, building leaders and building administrators will work together to ensure that plans and agendas for PLC time are linked to improved student learning. It is understood that this time provides opportunities for teachers and staff to collaborate professionally amongst themselves.
Professional Learning Community (PLC). One (1) of the two (2) administrator-directed hours beyond the duty day will be reserved for professional learning communities on campus. Employees are expected to participate in person during the two (2) mandatory hours each week. However, if an employee should need occasional flexibility, or should an employee be advised to isolate or quarantine, then remote participation via an approved District platform is acceptable. This hour is intended for learning through State Standards-Task Alignment and reviewing student data and how that data drives planning and instruction to include student interventions. The goal is to create products specific to the learning tasks listed above within your grade level, department, and/or vertical planning teams.

While the time is teacher driven, administrators will provide support to PLCs as needed.
