Personal and Professional Goals. These goals should be consistent with building and district goals and be designed to promote an individuals' professional growth and improve instruction. Employees should have in mind the goals, the areas to be investigated, resources needed, colleagues to be involved, methods for collecting data and the methods for evaluating growth toward the goals. During this meeting, the supervisor shall act as an advisor in order to clarify and refine the goals. He/she shall assist in developing data collection methods and ways to evaluate, and discuss needed resources. During January or February, a second meeting will occur in order to discuss collaboratively the progress on goal attainment and to refine and update any need for resources. If the person is on the professional growth option and the principal believes they should be on the summative program after the year has progressed, the administrator must notify the person in writing of the reason for this decision by March. If the evaluator cannot verify that minimum criteria, as required by state statute, are being met, the principal will request in writing from the Personnel Office the permission to perform a Summative review(Short Form.) The letter documenting the request will be given to the employee within five days of being submitted to the Personnel Office. During the Summative review the Short Form procedures will be used. At the conclusion of the Summative review, if the employee meets minimal criteria, the employee may return to the PGO tract. If the conclusion is that the employee does not meet minimum criteria, a full Long Form evaluation will be conducted to ascertain future track placement. The employee will not be placed on Probation during this process. The Summative review will occur within twenty (20) working days after the written request. By May 15th, a final meeting will be held to analyze data and evaluate the success of the goals. At this meeting a report on yearly goals shall be compiled collaboratively and submitted to the district personnel file. At this meeting, the supervisor will verify that the employee has met state statute requirements. At any time during the PGO cycle, collaborative interaction is encouraged based on trust and confidence. Growth is the desired outcome and the PGO cycle should not represent a threat to anyone. In April and May, a final meeting will be held to analyze data and to evaluate the success of the goals. At this meeting a report on yearly goal investigation shall be compiled collaboratively to be submitted to the district personnel file (See Appendix C5). At this meeting, the Supervisor will verify that the employee has met state statute requirements. At any time during the formative cycle, collaborative interaction is encouraged based on trust and confidence. Growth is the desired outcome and the formative cycle should not represent a threat to anyone. Although some goal setting in the formative cycle may be based on information gathered in the summative cycle, information may not pass from the formative to the summative in order to insure that teachers take risks and try new things. It is conceivable that all stated goals may not be reached in a given year for a variety of circumstances and analysis of such circumstances can also be a learning experience. The attainment of some goals may take more than one year. A formative file will be available to both teacher and administrator and it may contain the following: Annual goals, notes from meetings, resources needed, data gathering methods, other data if applicable. At the end of each year, the teacher will retain the file data. The administrator is encouraged to assist in coordinating efforts toward common goals that may exist in the building. The administrator is further encouraged to disseminate information and resources to teachers that may have a bearing on their goal attainment.

  • Personal Grievances A personal grievance is a particular type of employment relationship problem that normally must be raised with the employer within 90 days of the grievance arising. An employee may have a personal grievance where: • They have been dismissed without good reason, or the dismissal was not carried out properly. • They have been treated unfairly. • Their employment or a condition of their employment has been affected to their disadvantage by an unjustified action of their employer. • They have experienced sexual or racial harassment, or have been discriminated against because of their involvement in a union or other employee organisation, or have suffered duress over membership or non-membership of a union or other employee organisation. • They have been discriminated against in terms of the prohibited grounds of discrimination under the Human Rights Act 1993.

  • Outside Professional Activities 27.01 Outside professional activities conducted with professional and academic responsibility can enhance the reputation of the University and the abilities of its academic staff and librarians. This article applies only to outside professional activities that involve the application of special skills and knowledge within the member’s particular professional expertise. While a member has a primary obligation to fulfil their University responsibilities, they have the right to engage in outside professional activities subject to the following conditions: 27.01.01 A member shall notify the Xxxx/University Librarian in writing of the type, time commitment, and location of any such proposed professional activity. If the proposed activity involves the teaching at another educational institution of a course related to the faculty member's professional expertise, the faculty member shall obtain the prior written permission of the Xxxx/University Librarian, and such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld; 27.01.02 Such activities shall not require the commitment of a block of time on a regular basis which might interfere with the faculty member's normal timetable for teaching activities or a librarian's performance of normal professional responsibilities. For faculty, such activities shall not require the member to devote more than an average of one working day per five-day week on an annual basis. For librarian members, such activities shall not require the member to devote more than 20 working days per calendar year. 27.01.03 Such activities shall not hinder the fulfilment of the member's obligations to the University; 27.01.04 The name of the University and University letterhead shall not be used in such activities unless agreed to in advance by the President, although nothing shall prevent a member from stating the nature and place of employment, rank, and title in connection with such professional activities, provided that they shall not purport to represent the University or to speak for it, or to have its approval, unless such approval has been given in advance in writing by the Xxxx/University Librarian; 27.01.05 Use of University facilities, equipment, supplies, services or other personnel shall require prior written authorization from the member's Xxxx/University Librarian or from the appropriate administrative officer. Financial arrangements for such use shall be made in advance. University activities shall have priority in the use of such facilities, equipment, supplies, services and personnel; 27.01.06 A member engaged in outside professional activities shall hold the University harmless against any loss or damage that the University may suffer from such activities; and, 27.01.07 In preparing their Annual Report, each member shall include a statement of their outside professional activities in the previous year. 27.02 If the Xxxx/University Librarian has cause for concern, the Xxxx/University Librarian has the right to review a member's current or proposed outside professional activities and may require the member to provide information concerning the time devoted to current and past outside professional activities. The Xxxx/University Librarian shall inform the member in writing of the results of the review and, if necessary, of any corrective action which might be required of the member.

  • Training and Professional Development 11.1 The Employer will develop and maintain an employee training and development plan and provide such plan to the Union upon request. Staff training is intended to provide an opportunity for classified staff employees for training sponsored by the University Training and Development and the UW Medical Centers Organizational Development and Training. Education/Professional Leave is intended to facilitate employee access to continuing education opportunities. Training and educational/professional leave may be used for the purpose of improving job performance, maintaining and increasing proficiency, preparing staff for greater responsibility, or increasing promotional opportunities within the framework of staff positions available at the University. 11.2 Any release time for training for employees accepted for such classes shall be in accordance with the Executive Order (currently No. 52) governing this matter. In the event that two or more employees request the same training period and supervision must limit the number of persons who may participate at one time due to work requirements, the selection will be made on a mutually agreeable basis within the department. 11.3 The training program is a proper subject for discussion by either departmental or University-wide Joint Union/Management Committees. 11.4 If the Employer requires an employee to receive training, reimbursement will be provided in accordance with the University travel rules. Employee attendance at Employer required training, either during or outside working hours, will be considered time worked and compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. 11.5 Employee attendance at training not required by the Employer and not covered by Executive Order 52, either on approved leave from or outside of working hours, will be voluntary and not considered time worked.

  • Professional Growth The Superintendent shall devote the Superintendent’s time, attention, and energy to the direction, administration, and supervision of the District. The Board, however, encourages the continued professional growth of the Superintendent through the Superintendent’s active attendance at and participation in appropriate professional meetings at the local, regional, state and national levels. The Board shall encourage the use of data and information sources, and shall encourage the participation of the Superintendent in pertinent education seminars and courses offered by public or private institutions or by educational associations, as well as the participation in informational meetings with those individuals whose particular skills, expertise, or backgrounds would serve to improve the capacity of the Superintendent to perform the Superintendent’s professional responsibilities for the District. In its encouragement of the Superintendent to grow professionally, the Board shall permit a reasonable amount of release time for the Superintendent as the Superintendent and the Board deem appropriate, to attend such seminars, courses or meetings. The District does hereby agree to provide in the District’s budget during the term of this Contract for the benefit of the Superintendent, a professional development budget per contract year to be used for registration, travel, meals, lodging, and other related expenses. The District shall pay the Superintendent’s membership dues to the American Association of School Administrators, the Texas Association of School Administrators, and the Texas Association of Suburban/Mid-Urban Schools, as well as other memberships necessary to maintain and improve the Superintendent’s professional skills.

  • PROFESSIONAL AUTONOMY 1. Teachers shall, within the bounds of the prescribed curriculum, and consistent with effective educational practice and the Evaluation Criteria, Local Appendix A, have individual professional autonomy in determining the methods of instruction, and the planning and presentation of course materials in the classes of pupils to which they are assigned.

  • Personal Appearance All teachers shall maintain dress, grooming and personal appearance consistent with their area of teaching.

  • PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC FREEDOM A. The personal life of a teacher shall be the concern of and warrant the review and appropriate action of the Board only: 1. As it may prevent the teacher from performing his/her assigned functions during school duty hours; 2. As it may be in violation of local, state, national, or common law. B. Each teacher will be entitled to full rights of citizenship, and no religious or political activities of any such teacher or the lack thereof will be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the professional employment of such person provided they do not affect his/her classroom performance. C. The Board and the Association agree that academic freedom is essential to the fulfillment of the purposes of the Xxxxxx County School System, and they acknowledge the fundamental need to protect teachers from any censorship or restraint which might interfere with their obligation to pursue the truth in the performance of their teaching functions. They agree that subject to curriculum guidelines and appropriate supervision by the teacher’s evaluator, the responsibility for teaching all appropriate material rests with the teacher. D. No student’s grade shall be changed without a conference between the student’s teacher and the administrator. After the conference, the teacher will be notified, in writing, of the administrator’s decision. In the event the student’s teacher is not available for a conference, the administrator will notify the teacher in writing of any changes in a grade.

  • Contractor’s Project Manager and Key Personnel Contractor shall appoint a Project Manager to direct the Contractor’s efforts in fulfilling Contractor’s obligations under this Contract. This Project Manager shall be subject to approval by the County and shall not be changed without the written consent of the County’s Project Manager, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Contractor’s Project Manager shall be assigned to this project for the duration of the Contract and shall diligently pursue all work and services to meet the project time lines. The County’s Project Manager shall have the right to require the removal and replacement of the Contractor’s Project Manager from providing services to the County under this Contract. The County’s Project manager shall notify the Contractor in writing of such action. The Contractor shall accomplish the removal within five (5) business days after written notice by the County’s Project Manager. The County’s Project Manager shall review and approve the appointment of the replacement for the Contractor’s Project Manager.   • DEPENDENT PERSONAL SERVICES 1. Subject to the provisions of Articles 16, 18 and 19, salaries, wages and other similar remuneration derived by a resident of a Contracting State in respect of an employment shall be taxable only in that State unless the employment is exercised in the other Contracting State. If the employment is so exercised, such remuneration as is derived therefrom may be taxed in that other State. 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph 1, remuneration derived by a resident of a Contracting State in respect of an employment exercised in the other Contracting State shall be taxable only in the first-mentioned State if: a) the recipient is present in the other State for a period or periods not exceeding in the aggregate 183 days in any twelve-month period commencing or ending in the tax year concerned, and b) the remuneration is paid by, or on behalf of, an employer who is not a resident of the other State, and c) the remuneration is not borne by a permanent establishment or a fixed base which the employer has in the other State. 3. Notwithstanding the preceding provisions of this Article, remuneration derived in respect of an employment exercised aboard a ship or aircraft operated in international traffic by a resident of a Contracting State, may be taxed in that State.
