PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS. The Employer will furnish personal protective equipment (PPE) without charge or cost to the employee when it determines that such equipment is necessary for the work to be done safely. PPE and how it will be furnished will be negotiated in Local Agreements. Employees will be allowed to retain such equipment if it is not suitable for use by other employees when they no longer need it (i.e., eyeglasses, safety shoes, etc.).

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS. A. The Employer will furnish personal protective equipment (PPE) without charge or cost to the Employee when it determines that such equipment is necessary for the work to be done safely, including special situations as determined by the employer. Employees will be allowed to retain such equipment if it is not suitable for use by other Employees when they no longer need it (i.e., eyeglasses, safety shoes, etc.). Employees are expected to exercise due care and diligence in use of PPE. Consistent with the nature of the work assignment and subject to management approval, work schedules may provide for a reasonable amount of time to be included in the scheduled tour of duty for those tasks, which are related directly to the performance of work assignments, such as personal cleanliness and storage as well as a cleanup of Government property, tools and equipment. B. If required for representational functions, Union representatives shall be provided PPE as appropriate. C. To the extent required by the Employer, safety shoes will be provided for employees or the employee will be reimbursed for the amount up to $165 annually for the purchase of safety shoes when required in the performance of assigned duties. The method for providing safety shoes and/or reimbursement will be determined by the employer. To the extent feasible, the Employer will implement a method for providing safety shoes that does not require the employee to purchase up front, at his/her own expense, with subsequent reimbursement. Where employees are required to visit an outside vendor location to select/purchase safety shoes, up to two hours of duty time will be granted, subject to mission requirements and supervisory approval. Either Party may request to meet annually to discuss an inflationary price adjustment in the payment for safety shoes or if there is a substantial cost increase in the purchase price. In the event an employee demonstrates a need, subject to supervisory approval, for an additional pair of safety shoes within the year, the employee will be authorized the replacement. The shoes will meet the ANSI/OSHA specifications. Request for specialized safety shoes due to medical conditions will be administered in accordance with the reasonable accommodation procedures.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS. A. The Employer, in accordance with Executive Order 12196 and the Basic Program Elements for Federal Employee Occupational Safety and Health, and other applicable directives will provide approved safety equipment, approved personal protective equipment and other devices necessary to provide protection of employees from hazardous conditions encountered during the performance of official duties. B. Protective devices may include, but are not limited to, safety glasses (prescription, if necessary), safety-toed shoes, ear-plugs, dust masks, safety aprons, foul weather clothing and protective gloves. Protective devices do not include such items normally provided by employees as part of the requirement for doing their jobs. Employees will use safety equipment, personal protective equipment, and other devices and procedures provided or directed by the Employer as necessary for their protection.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS. ‌ a. The employer agrees to provide to employees any required tools and safety or protective equipment and devices necessary to provide them protection from hazardous conditions encountered during the performance of official duties. Such equipment will be provided as authorized by applicable Air regulations and directives (such as technical orders, Table of Allowances and local supplements thereto, etc.) and issuance shall be strictly governed by criteria contained in those authorities. b. The union agrees to assist the employer in aggressively publicizing the benefits of the use of protective devices and equipment by employees, and their adhering to good safety practices, policies, and procedures. For any employee whose position requires duties to be performed outdoors in inclement weather, a set of rain gear will be made available to him/her, at no cost to employee. Replacement gear will be provided on a fair wear and tear basis. Gear provided under this Section will be used properly and will only be worn in the performance of official duties.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS. 11.1 Protective clothing and boots will be issued to each employee on an annual basis and within each year will be replaced on a fair wear and tear basis.

  • Equipment and Tools 40.01 The Employer will make available all necessary tools and equipment it requires for the performance of work assignments at no cost to the employees. Such tools and equipment will remain the property of the Employer and the employees will be required to take reasonable care of this property and may be required to sign out certain equipment and tools.

  • Personal Protective Clothing 11.1 On commencement of employment with the Employer each employee will be issued with the following; 11.2 Where the employee requires prescription glasses, the Employer shall ensure that appropriate eye protection is issued or where the employee has had his/her glasses hardened, reimburse the employee for the cost, provided that such glasses meet appropriate safety standards. 11.3 The above mentioned equipment will be maintained by the employee and replaced by the Employer on a fair wear and tear basis. 11.4 Intentionally left blank

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE Each employee responding to or engaged in fire suppression activities will use the appropriate safety clothing and equipment. Each department is responsible for seeing that CAL/OSHA standards for safety clothing and equipment are provided and used for wildland firefighting. Wildland fire suppression safety clothing and equipment includes:  Safety helmet that meets the minimum standards required by California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, Section 3410.  Goggles, protection that meets the minimum requirements for design, construction and use as required by CCR, Title 8, Sections 3382 and 3404.  Ear protection to comply with CCR, Title 8, Sections 3405 and 3410(c).  Nomex hood, shroud, or equivalent face and neck protection.  Nomex shirt  Nomex pants  Gloves, CAL/OSHA approved for wildland firefighting.  Safety work boots, heavy-duty, lace-type, with deeply lugged soles and heels, and leather tops at least eight inches in height.  Wildland fire shelter

  • Personal Protective Equipment 64.1 While not being part of any issue of work clothing/equipment supplied (see clause 26), the Employer shall be required to provide personal protective equipment (SAA approved) for use, when necessary for the Employee to perform their required duties including: (a) ear/hearing protection; (b) gloves; and (c) skin protective cream/sun screen (30+/50+ rating). 64.2 In addition, one pair of UV-rated safety glasses or UV-rated clip-ons suitable to overlay prescription spectacles, shall be made available for Employees who are required to work on reflective surfaces such as: (a) metal decking; (b) large concrete slabs exposed to sunlight; (c) roofing; and (d) curtain xxxxxxx.

  • Uniforms and Protective Clothing 33.1 Where the employer requires an employee to wear a uniform, it shall be provided free of charge, but shall remain the property of the employer. 33.2 Suitable protective clothing shall be provided at the employer's expense where the duty involves a risk of excessive soiling or damage to uniforms or personal clothing or a risk of injury to the employee.

  • CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT (a) Employees required by the Employer to wear uniforms will be supplied with an adequate number of uniforms appropriate to the occupation free of cost to Employees. Such items are to remain the property of the Employer and be laundered and maintained by such Employer free of cost to the Employee. (b) Instead of the provision of such uniforms, the Employer may, by agreement with the Employee, pay such Employee a uniform allowance at the rate set out in Item 1 of Table 5. This rate is expressed as per shift or part thereof, or as a weekly rate – an Employee is to be paid whichever is the lesser amount. (c) Where an Employee’s uniforms are not laundered by or at the expense of the Employer, the Employee will be paid a laundry allowance. For Aged Care, Health Professionals and Home Care Employees this will be paid at the rate set out in Item 2 of Table 5. This allowance is also expressed as a payment per shift of part thereof of as a weekly payment – an Employee is to be paid whichever is the lesser amount. For Nursing Employees this will be paid at the rate set out in Item 3 of Table 5. (d) The uniform allowance, but not the laundry allowance, will be paid during all absences on paid leave, except absences on long service leave and absence on personal/carer’s leave beyond 21 days. Where, prior to the taking of leave, an Employee was paid a uniform allowance other than at the weekly rate, the rate to be paid during absence on leave will be the average of the allowance paid during the four weeks immediately preceding the taking of leave. (e) Where an Employer requires an Employee to wear rubber gloves, special clothing or where safety equipment is required for the work performed by an Employee, the Employer must reimburse the Employee for the cost of purchasing such special clothing or safety equipment, except where such clothing or equipment is provided by the Employer.
