Purpose and Definition. 6.1.1 Professional development is a process by which Educational Support Professionals improve and expand their skills as a member of a team and individually to meet the needs of a changing student population and to increase student achievement. Professional development is planned to meet the identified growth areas of each individual. The professional development process is an individualized plan tailored to meet the needs of the new hire as well as the continuing development of the more experienced.
6.1.2 An effective professional development process increases student achievement because: • job satisfaction increases as positive professional relationships are built; • morale improves as student achievement increases; • employee confidence increases as skills are developed for meeting student needs; and the job becomes more attractive and as a result more skilled applicants are recruited to the profession.
6.1.3 The employees covered by this contract provide a variety of invaluable services to support the students of Minneapolis Public Schools. Services include such diverse responsibilities as teaming with the classroom teacher, bilingual translations, assisting one-to-one students with special needs, early morning childcare, and assisting occupational therapists and social workers. In short, Educational Support Professionals play a vital role on the team, which strives to support the success of the students of Minneapolis Public Schools. To be effective in these areas of responsibility, Educational Support Professionals need ongoing professional development, as do all members of the educational community.
Purpose and Definition. Both parties hereto agree that continued service over a period of time normally does increase the worth of an employee to his/her employer. Therefore, where employee performance review group ratings are equal, the Company agrees to recognize seniority in case of promotions (Article 18) within the occupational groups included in this bargaining unit.

Purpose and Definition. 1. Purpose - The purpose of this procedure is to secure an equitable solution to a grievance at the lowest possible level. Nothing contained herein will be construed as limiting the right of any teacher to have a complaint adjusted without the assistance of the Association.
Purpose and Definition. The USD 511 School district shall establish a voluntary Sick Leave Bank for the use of and benefit of all certified employees in the District. The intent of the bank is to benefit full-time employees who plan to return to work at the school District following a major medical illness or injury. In the event of long-term illness, the purpose of the Sick Leave Bank is to provide support and assistance to employees who have rendered substantial and beneficial service to the District.
Purpose and Definition. 1.1 The Schedules form an integral part of this Agreement and shall be construed and have the same full force and effect as is expressly set out in the main body of this Agreement.
1.2 The words and expressions set out below shall have the meanings attributed to them below unless the context otherwise requires :-
Purpose and Definition. The purpose of professional supervision is to ensure financial counsellors receive the support necessary to provide the highest possible standard of service to their clients. Professional supervision is defined as: Appendix 1 explores each of these elements further and compares professional supervision to other relationships such as line management and employee assistance programs.

For the purposes of this Schedule, the definitions set out hereunder shall apply: Availability the Customer’s ability to access and use all functionalities of the Product and shall be calculated pursuant to clause 7.4 below; Downtime where the functionalities of the Product are unavailable such that the Product is not capable of being accessed and/or used; Permanent Fix a permanent resolution of the Support Issue; Planned Downtime Downtime that is scheduled in advance; Response Times the times as set out in clause 5 below to respond to a Support Issue raised by a Customer and which for the avoidance of doubt, is calculated from notification submitted by the Customer during the Support Hours; Service Credits a credit provided to the Customer for each Service Failure event and is calculated pursuant to clause 7.7 below; Service Failure (a) in respect of the Support Issue, failure to comply with the Resolution Times pursuant to clause 5 below; or (b) where the Product fails to achieve Availability of 99.75% pursuant to clause 7 below; Support Hours the hours between 9.00 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays or public holidays in the United Kingdom; Support Issue a failure or a cessation, interruption or degradation of the usual functionality of the Product; Unplanned Downtime when the system is unavailable outside of scheduled releases and Planned Downtime; Workaround a temporary resolution in respect of the Support Issue and may include Access performing the task on an ongoing basis on behalf of the Customer until a Permanent Fix is provided.
