SCHOOL ORGANIZATION. 8.1 The length of the school year shall be the minimum number of days that are required in the Education Act, as amended.
8.2 The Teacher shall not be required to work any days preceding the official start of the school year for students, unless the school year calendar must include a day preceding the official start of the school year for students in order to comply with the minimum number of days under the Act in a year when there are not 194 days between Labour Day and June 30.
8.3.1 The elapsed time from the beginning of a Teacher's assigned time to the end of a Teacher's assigned time on any school day shall not exceed 7.5 hours.
8.3.2 No period shall exceed seventy-five (75) minutes in length. No Teacher shall be assigned more than three (3) seventy-five (75) minute periods without a break.
SCHOOL ORGANIZATION. 61.01 Units of Administrative Strength: 61.01.01 One hundred and ninety eight (198) Units of Administrative Strength shall be allocated to the schools on a prorated basis according to the Board-approved ADE for the subsequent school year. Four (4) additional Units of Administrative Strength shall exist to be applied by the Board where necessary in order to buffer against decreases in ADE within schools.
SCHOOL ORGANIZATION. (a) No later than the first Wednesday in April the Board shall provide the Elementary Staffing Committee with the number of approved teaching positions for the upcoming school year.
(b) Initial total staff allocations for each school shall be distributed by the Board to each Principal not later than 15 April.
28.02 Prior to designing a tentative school organization, each Principal is obliged to schedule in advance and hold a full staff meeting for the purpose of eliciting staff input re: school organization. Staff input shall include, but not be limited to, minimizing split grades and balancing class sizes to address the safety and security of students. Additional meeting(s) with all affected staff will be held to discuss reorganizations resulting from a significant change in a school allocation and with all affected staff to discuss any assignment changes during the school year. Each Principal is to advise each individual teacher of his or her assignment for the following school year.
28.03 The proposed organization or reorganization arrived at following this consultative process is subject to the approval of the appropriate Superintendent of Schools. This tentative organization, including assignments, shall be presented to and discussed at a full staff meeting prior to 1 May.
28.04 Following receipt and approval of the tentative school organization the Board shall provide the O.C.E.T.F., not later than 1 May:
(a) a list of known vacancies as of the following 1 September;
(b) the number of teaching positions which are projected to exist as of the next 1 September;
(c) a list of the names of teachers requiring placement for the next school year.
SCHOOL ORGANIZATION. It is acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the teacher is to teach, and that the organization o f the school and the school day should be directed toward insuring that the energy of the teacher is primarily utilized to this end.

15.1.2 A Teacher who agrees with a request from the Board to work outside the designated school year shall receive compensating days equal to the number of days worked, to be scheduled with the mutual agreement of the Teacher and the Principal during the course of the school year. The duties of the Teacher who is taking compensating days shall not be assigned to another member of the Bargaining Unit.
15.2 The elapsed time from the beginning of a Teacher's assigned time to the end of a Teacher's assigned time on any school day shall not exceed 7.5 hours.

15.3 Prior to implementation, any change to the system or school timetabling structures shall be reviewed through the Board- Federation Committee.
15.4 Participation in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) shall be voluntary.
15.5 Each full-time Teacher will be assigned 6 periods out of 8 periods. 15.5.1 For Guidance Teachers, Teacher-Librarians, School to Community Teachers, Safe School Teachers, Special Education Resource Teachers, Co-operative Education Teachers and, Teachers of Adult Education and Alternate Education Credit Programs, On- calls/Supervisions may be replaced with Student and/or Teacher Mentoring, and be assigned back to their area.
15.5.2 Workload on-calls/supervisions and mentorship duties assigned to part-time Teachers shall be prorated in accordance with the ratio that the Teacher‟s entitlement bears to that of a full-time Teacher as outlined in 15.5.

8.2 The elapsed time from the beginning of a teacher’s assigned time to the end of a teacher’s assigned time on any school day shall not exceed 7.5 hours.
8.3.1 Each classroom teacher shall be assigned 1250 minutes of instructional time per week on average during the school year. As part of the 1250 minutes, a teacher will be required to perform 110 minutes per week of timetabled instructional duties including on-calls in areas which are credited toward a high school diploma or in special or remedial education programs or provincially mandated programs.
8.3.2 A teacher who has less than a full-time teaching load shall have his/her instructional time pro-rated.
8.3.3 Individual teachers shall not be assigned more than six (6) of eight (8) periods (3 classes out of 4 per semester) except by mutual agreement of the Board, the teacher and the bargaining unit.
8.3.4 Teachers who deliver instructional credits in Focus Programs greater than three (3) credits per pupil will have the program reviewed by the Board and the Federation.
8.3.5 Normally an on-call assignment will be for no more than 38 minutes.
8.3.6 Non-instructional assignments shall be minimal and assigned equitably amongst the staff.
8.3.7 Concerns regarding the equity of teaching assignments will be reviewed by the Permanent Board/Federation Committee.
