Sick/Family Illness Leave. 1. For the 2021-22 school year, each teacher under contract shall be entitled to be absent from work on account of illness or quarantine for a total of ten (10) days the first school year and ten (10) days in each succeeding school year. Starting with the conclusion of the 2021-22 school year, each teacher under contract shall be entitled to be absent from work on account of illness or quarantine for a total of nine (9) days their first school year of employment and nine (9) days in each succeeding school year. If, in any one school year, the teacher shall be absent for such illness or quarantine less than the stated number of days, the remaining days shall be accumulative to a total of one hundred ninety (190) days.

An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement.
