Single Shift Reassignment. Where staff are required to be reassigned to another unit, the following guidelines should be applied, providing first that patient care needs are being met:
(a) Ask the scheduled staff if they wish the opportunity of experience on the unit to which assignment is required.
(b) Casual Registered Nurse on a unit, starting with the most junior first, then in reverse order of seniority, would be reassigned first.
(c) In the absence of any Casual staff, the most junior of the regular part-time including Job Sharers would be reassigned.
(d) Then the most junior of the full-time would be reassigned. Staff not required to be re-assigned would include those nurses who are in their orientation, any nurse who is new to the Hospital for a period of three (3) calendar months from her date of hire, a nurse who is acting as a preceptor/mentor on said shift or a nurse who has a restriction as outlined from OHSS and would require accommodation to work on that particular unit.
Single Shift Reassignment. In accordance with Article 10.08 (a), the Parties agree to implement the following principles for single shift reassignment. The reassignment will be from the employee's home unit to any other unit as required by the Hospital for the period of time up to and including a single shift.

(b) Given that the reassignment of a qualified staff member will be the best for the patients if there are no qualified nurses wanting to be reassigned, ask the scheduled staff if they wish the opportunity of experience on the unit to which assignment is required.
(c) In the absence of any volunteers the most junior casual staff, would be reassigned.
(d) Then the most junior of the regular part-time, including job sharers.
(e) Then the most junior of the full-time would be reassigned.
(f) Reassignment that is not voluntary will be on a rotational basis. Staff not required to be re-assigned would include those nurses who are in their orientation, any nurse who is new to the Hospital for a period of three (3) calendar months from her date of hire, a nurse who is acting as a preceptor/mentor on said shift or a nurse who has a restriction as outlined from OH & Wellness and would require accommodation to work on that particular unit. Unit Leaders will not be required to be reassigned. When staff are reassigned to another unit it is the responsibility of the Unit Leader on the receiving unit to re-organize the workload in an equitable fashion based on the patient care needs.
Single Shift Reassignment. In accordance with Article 10.08 (a), the parties agree to implement the following principles for single shift reassignment. The reassignment will be from the nurse’s home unit to any other unit as required by the Hospital for the period of time up to and including a single shift. Reassignment will occur bearing in mind the following principles:
1. Patient care requirements are the first priority.
2. The Hospital will not normally reassign probationary nurses.
3. The Hospital will reassign, where possible, nurses who volunteer.
4. The Hospital will reassign staff nurses on a fair and equitable basis.
5. The Hospital will not reassign the nurse outside of her scope of practice unless she is reassigned with an experienced nurse on the receiving unit.
Single Shift Reassignment. The Parties agree to implement the following principles in accordance with Article 10.08 for single shift reassignment. The reassignment will be from the nurses home to any other unit as required by the Hospital for the period of time up to and including a single shift.
(a) Reassignment will occur bearing in mind the following principles:
i) patient care requirements are the first priority;
ii) the Hospital will reassign, whenever possible, nurses who volunteer;
iii) the Hospital will reassign staff nurses in the following sequence; on the basis of reverse seniority: regular part- time and/or full-time and providing the nurse has the ability to perform the available work; and
iv) the Hospital will not normally reassign probationary nurses.
(b) The reassigned nurses will be assigned to work with an experienced RN on the receiving unit.
(c) The experienced RN will familiarize the reassigned nurse to the general functioning of the unit.
(d) The reassigned nurse will identify to the experienced nurse her skills, abilities, and limitations in relation to the duties on the receiving unit. The two nurses will collaborate in providing patient care. N-8 Electronic Grievance and/or Professional Responsibility Workload Report Form Articles 7.09 and Article 8.01 (a) ix)
(a) The parties agree to use the electronic version of the ONA Grievance Form at Appendix 1 of the Hospital Central Agreement or Professional Responsibility Workload Report Form at Appendix 6 of the Hospital Central Agreement.
(b) The parties agree that hard copies of the electronic form are valid for purposes of Article 7 and/or 8 of the Hospital Central Agreement.
(c) The union undertakes to get a copy of the electronic version signed by the grievor and/or complainant and will provide the hospital with an original copy at the time of the grievance/complainant is heard.
(d) The parties agree to not use or rely upon an preliminary arguments related to the use of the electronic version should a grievance proceed to mediation or arbitration and/or Professional Responsibility Workload proceed to mediation or Independent Assessment Committee hearing.
Single Shift Reassignment. In accordance with Article 10.08 (a), the parties agree to implement the following principles for single shift reassignment. The reassignment will be from the nurse(s)’ home unit to any other unit as required by the Hospital for the period of time up to and including a single shift. Patient care requirements are the first priority. Reassignment will occur bearing in mind the following principles:
1. The Hospital will reassign, where possible, qualified nurse(s) who come forward to volunteer.
2. The Hospital will reassign qualified staff nurse(s), who are oriented in the other unit, in the following sequence, on the basis of reverse seniority: casual, regular part-time and/or full-time.
Single Shift Reassignment. RNs from the Corporate Float Team will be required to float prior to implementing a reassignment under this provision. Pursuant to Articles 10.07 (g) and 10.08 (a), the parties agree that in the event that a nurse is reassigned from one unit to another, the following order will apply providing first that patient care needs are being met.
Single Shift Reassignment. In accordance with Article 10.08 (a), the parties agree to implement the following principles for single shift re-assignment:
(a) Patient care requirements are the first priority;
(b) Where possible, the Hospital will re-assign qualified agency nurses first, followed by ONA nurses on the basis of reverse seniority;
(c) The Hospital will not re-assign the nurse outside of their scope of practice unless they are re-assigned with an experienced nurse on the receiving unit.
Single Shift Reassignment. When it is necessary to reassign staff from one (1) unit to another, the reassignment will first be offered on a voluntary basis, subject to maintaining operational requirements and provided the nurse is qualified to perform the work in question.
(a) In the event that there are no volunteers, nurses will be reassigned in the following order:
i) Composite
ii) Casual part-time by order of reverse seniority; and,
iii) Other nurses on the unit on the basis of seniority starting with the most junior and in ascending order.
(b) For the purposes of reassignment under this provision a combined seniority list shall be used.
(c) The above order may be altered based on an evaluation of the qualifications required, skill mix required, clinical needs, client acuity and the staffing complement on the sending and receiving units.
(d) It is agreed that nurses who are reassigned will be assigned to work along with a nurse from the receiving unit and that there will be a shared patient assignment.
(e) It is understood that nurses will not be reassigned to work at another hospital.
(f) It is understood that a nurse in a composite position working on their home unit is not to be reassigned for a shift on the other unit prior to offering the shift to part-time and casual nurses on that other unit.
