Special Education Placements. The administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels will make every effort to assign special education students in such a way that there is an equal distribution of students within the building. a. If an elementary teacher is permanently assigned four special education students (classified by IEP and excluding speech) they are entitled to five (5) hours per week of additional instructional assistant time. For each special education student above 4, two additional hours of assistant time per week will be offered. As an option, if the teacher is permanently assigned four special education students (excluding speech) for more than 10 for a trimester the teacher may receive $300 per trimester to be used for the purpose of purchasing classroom materials, equipment, conferences or other approved use. If the total is four students for less than 10 in a trimester, the credit above will be prorated based on the percentage of days during the trimester the class was at four special education students. For each special education student above 4 students for more than 10 in a trimester, an additional $80 per trimester will be added and available as defined. If the additional student assignment exists for less than 10 days in a trimester, the credit amount will be prorated as above. Categorical students who are mainstreamed into regular classrooms will be prorated based upon the time scheduled into the regular classroom. b. At the secondary level, if 8 or more students (classified by IEP and excluding speech) are assigned to a class, and that class has a total enrollment of more than 22 students, that teacher will be entitled to an assistant during that class period, unless this is a co-teaching situation. As an option, if the teacher's class meets the condition above for more than 15 school days in a semester (or 10 in a trimester) that teacher will be provided with a $450.00 credit per semester ($300 per trimester) to be used for the purpose of purchasing classroom materials, equipment, conferences, or other approved use. If this condition exists for less than 15 school days in a semester (or 10 in a trimester), the credit above will be prorated based on the percentage of days the class met the conditions. c. Students placed in regular classrooms with severe handicaps under Inclusion will have additional services as decided by the IEP process. Special Education Placements. A. The superintendent (or designee) shall appoint participants to an individualized educational planning committee and shall invite the parents to be participants. B. Participants in the individualized educational planning committee shall, at a minimum, include both of the following: 1. A representative of the District, other than the student's teacher, who is qualified to provide, or supervise the provision of, special education. 2. The student's teacher or a teacher appropriate for the student's age and ability if the student is not previously enrolled by the school District. If the student is enrolled in general education, at least 1 of the participants shall be a general full-time teacher to whom the student is assigned. C. The superintendent (or designee) shall give consideration to the appointment to the IEPC of professional ancillary and other related services personnel. Section 2 The parties recognize the extent to which a special education student can participate in general education programs and services and whether such participation can be achieved satisfactorily will depend in large part upon the training and other support provided the general education personnel responsible for instructing the special education student. Accordingly, the Employer shall: A. Provide in-service training or consultation to general education personnel regarding the instruction and behavioral management of special education students in the general education classroom setting. A variety of such programs will be provided, the subjects to include the differing approaches, problems and techniques to be utilized with varying disabling conditions, to be mutually agreed upon by the Employer and the Association. Such in-service training or consultation shall be expedited for any general education personnel who shall be asked to provide or supervise instructional services to any special education students. B. Comply with IEP requirements for ancillary services as identified in the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education, including paraprofessional and other such personnel identified in a student's IEP necessary to implement the IEP for each special education student in the District. Related to Special Education Placements

  • Special Education Special education services, related services, and accommodations for students who are eligible under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), or any applicable provisions of state law, shall be provided in accordance with applicable state and federal law, this Agreement and Authorizer rules and policies. The Authorizer is the LEA for purposes of ensuring compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and all other federal and state laws and regulations concerning accommodation of and education of students with disabilities.

  • Special Education Teachers Elementary/Secondary Special Education Coordinators shall be compensated for an extended work day in the amount of four thousand dollars ($4,000).

  • General Education University Program Requirements All MTA applicable courses require a grade “C” or higher

  • Continuing Education The Hospital and the Union recognize that continuing education is important for all employees and that they have shared interests and responsibilities in ensuring equitable access to it.

  • Union Education If the local union indicates to the Hospital that its members have approved a special assessment for union education in accordance with the CUPE constitution and local union by laws, the Hospital agrees to deduct this assessment. Students should have successfully completed the SUNY-GER Basic Communication requirement with a grade of “C” or better, the mathematics requirement, and 5 of the remaining 8 categories. The student is responsible for fulfilling the SUNY Buffalo State College Diversity requirement.

  • In-Service Education The parties recognize the value of in-service both to the employee and the Employer and shall encourage employees to participate in in-service. All employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service seminars shall receive regular wages.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund effective January 1st, 2013 and each year thereafter, two thousand ($2,000.00) for the purpose of providing Paid Education Leave. Said Paid Education Leave will be for the purpose of upgrading the Dependent Contractor’s skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Dependent Contractors on such leave will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave.
