Standard Maintenance. In order to appropriately manage a highly available Exchange environment there will be occasional, brief (1-2 minute) interruptions of service to individual mailboxes for standard maintenance (e.g., creating a new mailbox, creating a new database for expansion, moving a mailbox from an over-utilized server to an under-utilized server). These interruptions will not prevent the use of the email client when in cached mode and will not result in the loss of any data. When possible these activities will be performed after regular work hours. Any activity during these interruptions will be queued and processed after the interruption. These standard maintenance activities will minimize the number and duration of scheduled maintenance windows.
Standard Maintenance. It is recommended that about once every few months you fully charge the battery and then run the laptop on battery power until the low power warning comes up. Then plug the laptop in and fully charge it. A laptop that sits on AC power all day and never on the battery will reduce how long the battery lasts. Give it some exer- cise by unplugging every now and then – Apple recommends giving it at least one charge cycle a month. So, unplug for a bit, at least once a week, and it should add up to one charge cycle a month. Remember, partial discharges are better than full. Frequently draining the battery all the way or nearly all the way will put additional strain on the battery. It’s better for the battery to be partially discharged and recharged again, than giving it a full discharge and bringing it back. Avoid full discharges unless calibrating. When leaving the school campus be sure to turn your laptop off!!! Optimal Battery Setting You can choose to use your Apple notebook in a way that maximizes its battery life. * Energy: The Energy Saver control panel offers several settings that determine power levels for your MacBook. Your portable knows when it is plugged in, and runs accordingly. When on battery power, it will dim the screen and use other components sparingly. If you change this setting to maximize performance, your battery will drain more quickly. * Brightness: Dim the screen to the lowest comfortable level to achieve maximum battery life. For instance, when watching a DVD on an airplane, you may not need full brightness if all the lights are off. MacBook Temperate Zone Your Apple notebook works best from 50° to 95°F. Keeping your Mac as near room temperature as possible is ideal. Make sure you never leave your MacBook in a hot car.
