Steps of Discipline. Normally, the following disciplinary actions may be imposed for good and sufficient grounds:
1. Oral reprimand
2. Written reprimand
3. Suspension with or without pay

In matters involving the disciplining of employees covered by this agreement, the Company agrees to abide by the following progressive steps of discipline: First offense: Documented verbal counseling. Second offense: Written memorandum of counseling. Third offense: Disciplinary suspension not to exceed five (5) days and may result in termination. The company reserves the right to discipline any employee up to and including termination for just cause (including all serious offenses) based on the severity of the incident in accordance with Company policy.

3. Written Reprimand
4. Suspension
5. Discharge
B. Previous reprimands (oral or written) shall not be necessary if the cause for suspension and/or discharge is stealing or theft, falsification of records, reckless or unauthorized use of the Employer’s vehicles, gross misconduct, insubordination, or any other incident of similar magnitude.
C. A written notice of the reprimands/disciplinary action will include the date of the reprimand/disciplinary action, a description of the infraction involved, a summary of any previous oral and written reprimands/disciplinary actions not previously removed from the personnel file, the action the employee must take to resolve the problem and the warning that, if the problem occurs again, further disciplinary action will result.
D. Oral and written notices of disciplinary actions will be given to the employee within fourteen (14) calendar days following the event giving rise to the disciplinary action or in such time as the Employer reasonably would have been aware of the event. A copy of the written disciplinary action will be placed in the employee’s personnel file and sent to the Unions.
E. Oral and written reprimands and notices of suspension will be removed from the employee’s file after one and one-half (1 ½) years from the date of issuance. Such removal will only occur if the employee has maintained a clean work record for one and one-half (1 ½) years from the date of the latest reprimand or suspension.

A. Issuance of Verbal Warning This warning, issued by the member's immediate supervisor, will be summarized in writing and given to the member after meeting with the supervisor to document the verbal warning . This written summary will be placed in the members personnel file.
Steps of Discipline. The Employer reserves the right to, with just cause, discharge, suspend or otherwise discipline employees for violations of County and/or departmental rules and regulations. All disciplinary and corrective actions shall be subject to the provisions of the grievance procedure contained within this agreement. The seriousness of an offense will often vary with the circumstances prevailing at the time of the occurrence and the motives which prompted the offense. Related and mitigating factors shall be considered when determining appropriate action to be taken. The disciplinary process involves four (4) steps of progressive discipline for infractions of a like or similar nature and which are of a nature not serious enough to constitute just cause for immediate suspension or discharge. Disciplinary action or measures shall be limited to the following:
a. Verbal warning with written documentation;
b. Written reprimand;
c. Suspension, notice to be given in writing;

Written warning—a written statement to the employee indicating conduct that is in violation of a specific rule, regulation, or other requirement; the approximate time(s) of such violation’s occurrence; whether the warning; a clear and complete description of the deficiency or inadequacy of the employee; suggestions for assistance or plan of action for improvements.
c. Disciplinary suspension, demotion, or leave of absence—all with pay.
d. Disciplinary suspension, demotion, or leave of absence—all without pay.
