Teacher Reduction. A. In the event that the Board determines to decrease the number of teachers employed or to discontinue some particular type of teaching service, then written notice will be mailed to the teacher and also given either by certified mail, return receipt requested, or personal delivery with receipt at least forty-five (45) days before the end of the school term, together with a statement of honorable dismissal and the reason therefore. The sequence of dismissal shall be as provided in section B below.

Teacher Reduction. In the event the BOARD determines that the instructional staff must be reduced, the BOARD shall give written notice to any TEACHER(S) who may be affected and to the ASSOCIATION before implementing such reduction in staff. If reduction in teaching staff is to occur, the BOARD must retain Employees at a school or in the school district based upon educational program needs and the performance evaluations of Employees within the affected program areas. Within the program areas requiring reduction, the Employees with the lowest performance evaluations must be the first to be released, and reductions shall continue in a like manner until the needed number of reductions has occurred. The BOARD may not prioritize the retention of Employees based upon seniority. In the event of a lay-off pursuant to this section, a leave of absence of one (1) calendar year, without pay, shall be granted to each TEACHER affected by the reduction in personnel.
Teacher Reduction. A. The Superintendent of Schools may terminate teachers’ services in a particular school to the extent reasonably required by the presence of any of the following conditions:

  • Staff Reduction In the event the District adopts a reduced educational program by reason of financial necessity, including but not limited to, levy failure and/or decreased State or Federal support, certificated employees who will be retained to implement the District’s reduced or modified program and those certificated employees who will be non-renewed from employment or adversely affected in contract status shall be identified by the provisions contained in this Article. If the District is only reducing provisional employees, the following procedures do not need to be implemented.

  • PERSONNEL REDUCTION In the event of a personnel reduction, the employee with the least seniority shall be laid off first. Time in the Fire Department shall be given the utmost consideration. No new employee shall be hired until the laid-off employee has been given the opportunity to return to work, nor shall the position be replaced by a volunteer. (Excepted are conflicting provisions of contracts to serve surrounding communities.)

  • WORKFORCE REDUCTION In the event that funding reductions or shortfalls in funding occur in a department or are expected, which may result in layoffs, the department will notify the union and take the following actions:

  • Reduction in Force Procedure Should a situation arise which could result in a layoff of Faculty Members, the District shall provide the Federation with a written statement of the basis for the decision with supporting data and projected reductions that may be needed. Upon the request of either party, the District and the Federation shall meet promptly to discuss the impact of such action and any possible alternative courses of action. In the case of a reduction in force, the District shall notify the Federation in writing of the names of all Faculty Members to be laid off. This notice shall be given simultaneously with notification to the affected Faculty Members. This procedure shall also include all notifications of re-employment following a layoff.

  • Salary Reduction A reduction in pay from one step to another, which is not below the minimum rate established for the position by the salary plan. The employee must be interviewed by the concerned department head or designated representative and served with a written notice of salary reduction. The reduction in pay of any regular employee requires the approval of the City Manager. A copy of the notice of salary reduction shall be sent immediately to the Administrative Services Department for inclusion in the employee's official personnel file.
