Temporary Disability Benefits. All employees are covered under a Temporary Disability Benefit Program. Coverage is effective upon commencement of employment and shall be in accordance with the applicable contract of insurance.
Temporary Disability Benefits. A. Disability pay shall be at the rate of 70% of regular bi-weekly rate to a maximum of $800 per week for a period not to exceed 20 weeks. B. There shall be no more than twenty (20) weeks of disability pay for any person in any contract year. C. The Cuyahoga DD shall allocate an expenditure of $60,000 per year for disability pay for the bargaining unit. When expenditures of $60,000 have occurred in any contract year, additional requests for payment may be denied. The Cuyahoga DD’s liability for disability pay shall not exceed $180,000 for the entire bargaining unit for the duration of this labor agreement. No individual will receive benefits exceeding 40 weeks of disability pay during any three year period for the same diagnosis. D. A staff member may not receive temporary total disability benefits (worker’s compensation) and disability pay for the same period. E. A staff member shall not earn sick leave, personal leave or other paid leave during a disability pay period. Disability leave shall not constitute a break in service for seniority purposes.

Temporary Disability Benefits. In the event that an accident results in temporary disability, the insurance shall pay a per diem allowance proportionate to the loss of capacity to work four weeks from when the accident happened until the employee is able to work again, or until a disability assessment has been performed, but no longer than for 37 weeks. The per diem allowance for temporary disability is ISK 40,950 per week. If the employee is partially able to work, the per diem allowance is proportionate. Per diem allowance from insurance is paid to the employer while the employee receives wages according to a collective agreement or employment contract and then to the employee.
