For more information visit our privacy policy.Temporary Employee Employees may be hired for a specific term not to exceed six (6) months, to replace an employee who will be on approved leave of absence, absence due to WSIB disability, sick leave, long term disability or to perform a special non-recurring task. This term may be extended a further six (6) months on mutual agreement of the Union, employee and Hospital or by the Hospital on its own up to twelve (12) months where the leave of the person being replaced extends that far. The period of employment of such persons will not exceed the absentee's leave. The release or discharge of such persons shall not be the subject of a grievance or arbitration. This clause would not preclude such employees from using the job posting provision under the collective agreement and any successful applicant who has completed his probation period will be credited with the appropriate seniority. The Hospital will outline to employees selected to fill such temporary vacancies and the Union, the circumstances giving rise to the vacancy, and the special conditions relating to such employment.
Temporary Employees 3.3.1 A temporary employee is an employee who is hired for short-term work assignment which is not ongoing (i.e. normally 12 months or less and not extending beyond 24 months). The employee's benefits and working conditions are as per Article 34 (Temporary Employees).
Temporary Employment 15.4.1 A temporary employee will be an employee who is engaged on either a full or part-time basis to work in a position which is temporary in nature for a specified period of time and/or for a specific project, task or tasks. 15.4.2 A respondent will not dispense with a permanent position for the purpose of creating temporary position(s).
Part-Time and Temporary Employees 18.1. A part-time employee is one who is hired to work regularly twenty-four (24) hours per week or less. Except as expressly provided in the circumstances described in Article 18 (3) hereunder, a temporary employee is one employed for a special project or a specified time, in either case not to exceed three (3) months, except by mutual agreement in writing, or in the case of students, the academic vacation period. The Employer shall notify the employee and the CAW of the nature and anticipated duration of all temporary employment. 18.2. Neither part-time nor temporary employees shall be employed where such employment would eliminate or displace a regular or full-time employee. The Company will continue its practice of only hiring part-time or temporary employees when it deems it impractical to hire a full-time employee. 18.3. Notwithstanding Article 18.1 above, temporary employees may be employed to replace regular employees who are absent due to illness, injury, maternity or other leave of absence to a maximum of twelve (12) months. The period of employment of the temporary employee will cease when the regular employee on leave returns to work or when the regular employee on leave informs the Company and the CAW in writing that he/she will not be returning to work. In any event, temporary employees hired pursuant to this Article 18 (3) shall not be employed for more than twelve (12) months except by mutual agreement in writing. 18.4. A part-time employee shall be paid on an hourly basis equivalent to the weekly minimum salary provided for the employee's classification and experience. 18.5. A part-time employee shall advance on the schedule of minimum salaries and shall receive all benefits that depend on length of service according to the length of his/her employment with the Employer, according to actual hours worked based on a 1,600 hour year. 18.6. Temporary employees shall be paid an hourly rate consistent with the minimum weekly salary provided for their classification and experience. 18.7. Part-time and temporary employees shall be covered by all provisions of this Agreement, except as provided otherwise. 18.8. In the event of a part-time or temporary employee becoming a full-time employee, he/she shall be credited with the length of his/her employment with the Employer, according to actual hours worked, based on a 1,600 hour year.
Employee Response The employee upon whom a Notice of Proposed Action has been served shall have seven (7) calendar days to respond to the appointing authority either orally or in writing before the proposed action may be taken. Upon request of the employee and for good cause, the appointing authority may extend in writing the period to respond. If the employee's response is not filed within seven (7) days or during an extension, the right to respond is lost.
Employee Relations Neither the Company nor any of its subsidiaries is involved in any labor dispute nor, to the knowledge of the Company or any of its subsidiaries, is any such dispute threatened. None of the Company's or its subsidiaries' employees is a member of a union and the Company and its subsidiaries believe that their relations with their employees are good.
Employee Release 19.1 Employees with 5 years continuous service with the current employer may apply for a one-off continuous period of unpaid Employee Release for a period of three months up to a maximum of twelve months. Such application shall be considered on a case-by-case basis and granted at the discretion of the employer. All service related provisions/ benefits will be put on hold until resumption of normal duties. 19.2 The notification of the employee’s intent to return to normal duties will be the same as Clause 15.7 (Parental Leave). 19.3 Job protection provisions will be the same as in Clause 15.9.1 19.4 The provisions of this clause are separate from and in addition to normal unpaid leave provisions and it is acknowledged that employees may apply for unpaid leave at any time during their employment.
Employee Removal At District’s request, Contractor shall immediately remove any Contractor employee from all District properties in cases where the District in its sole discretion determines that removal of that employee is in the District’s best interests.
Employee Responsibilities The Employer's policy with respect to employee responsibilities provides for employees:
TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE A. Members shall be entitled to the following temporary leaves of absence with full pay each school year. Such days of temporary leave must be taken as either one-half (1/2) or one (1) full working day. No personal leaves of absence shall be taken immediately prior to or immediately after holidays or vacations. Any exceptions must be requested in writing to the Superintendent or his designee and must have written approval. 1. Members are entitled to three (3) days personal leave annually subject to advance notice and approval secured from the Superintendent or designee. Personal leave means an activity that requires the member’s presence during the working day and is of such a nature that it cannot be attended to at a time when schools are not in session. Unused personal days shall be transferred to accumulated sick leave time on July 1st each year of this Agreement and all succeeding Agreements. 2. Up to five (5) working days at any one time shall be granted to members in the event of death of a member’s spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, or any person with whom the member has made his/her home, and any other member of the immediate household. 3. In the case of the death of a near relative, defined as first cousin, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew, there shall be no deduction from personal leave entitlement of up to three (3) days, subject to advance notice to and approval of the Superintendent. 4. A member shall also be granted a reasonable amount of bereavement time with full pay for the purpose of travel in cases where the funeral is out of state. Such time off is subject to the approval of the Assistant Superintendent to whom the member is reportable. 5. Any other leave of absence granted by the Board may be without pay. 6. No leave of absence with pay shall be granted due to the requirements of a second job. 7. Professional leave for such purposes as attending meetings, seminars and visiting other schools may be granted. 8. If a member is subpoenaed by a court of law to appear on behalf of the Board, such member shall do so without loss of pay.
