Temporary fences. If, during the course of the Work, it is necessary to remove or disturb any fencing, the Design-Build Firm shall, at his own expense, provide a suitable temporary fence which shall be maintained until the permanent fence is replaced. The Project Manager will be solely responsible for the determination of the necessity for providing a temporary fence and the type of temporary fence to be used. Responsibility for Temporary Structures: In accepting this Contract, the Design-Build Firm assumes full responsibility for the sufficiency and safety of all temporary structures or work and for any damage which may result from their failure or their improper construction, maintenance or operation and will indemnify and save harmless the City from all claims, suits or actions and damages or costs of every description arising by reason of failure to comply with the above provisions.

Provide orange plastic mesh safety fence with a nominal height of 48”. Support fence securely on driven posts in vertical position without sagging. 1. Materials: Iowa DOT Section 4188.03. 2. Use unless required otherwise. C. Temporary fencing installed around open excavations or material storage areas is incidental to construction and will not be measured for payment. D. Provide 6-foot high temporary working area chain-link fencing as specified to fence off storage area from operating areas, and if necessary, to fence off pedestrian access areas. 2. The location of fence for pedestrian access areas adjacent to the Work area and to the storage areas shall be as specified and consistent with the Design-Builder’s approved Working Drawings for maintenance of traffic plans.
