Temporary Shift Changes. An employee may on a voluntary basis, reach mutual agreement with MSDA to temporarily move from one shift to the other to meet operational and/or training requirements. Once the requirements are met the employee will revert to their previous shift cycle. A shift worker who requests a transfer from day to night or night to day will be accommodated where possible. If no position is available they will be required to remain on their current shift. Night shift workers who temporarily transfer to day shift at the request of MSDA will continue to be paid their night shift allowance whilst working on the day shift. At the specific request of the employee and subject to agreement by MSDA the commencing and ceasing times of an employee’s roster may be altered.

Temporary Shift Changes. The College may institute temporary shift changes when the change is needed to ensure the effective operation of the College. The shift change will be first offered to employees to volunteer before making a mandatory work schedule change. If this schedule change exceeds the limits stated above, employees will be compensated at the overtime rate. The Association will be notified two (2) weeks in advance of the change unless otherwise agreed upon.

However, should management require a shift be changed temporarily so that an employee attend mandatory training classes and/or conferences, as much advance notice as possible will be given for the temporary shift change, but at least five (5) days advance notice (prior to start of temporary shift) will be given. If an employee is not at work so that Management can provide advance notice, the notice requirement will be met only if direct contact (not message) is made with the effected employee.

The advance notice requirement does not apply in the event of any emergency, such as fire, unanticipated weather events or other events where the City would not reasonably have 8 days’ notice or where waived by the employee. In the absence of an emergency or waiver by the employee, employee will be paid at overtime rate for the first two (2) hours of each day up to a maximum of eight (8) days.

  • Temporary Schedule Changes Overtime-eligible employees’ workweeks and/or work schedules may be temporarily changed with prior notice from the Employer. A temporary schedule change is defined as a change lasting thirty (30) calendar days or less. With the exception of the job classifications listed in Appendix B, overtime-eligible employees will receive three (3) calendar days’ written notice of any temporary schedule change. The day that notification is given is considered the first day of notice. Adjustments in the hours of work of daily work shifts during a workweek do not constitute a temporary schedule change.

  • Temporary Structures Installation of temporary construction-related structures including scaffolding, barriers, screening, fences, protective walkways, signage, office trailers or restrooms.

  • Temporary Layoffs A. The Employer may initiate a temporary layoff for up to twelve (12) working days per fiscal year. Employees will be given thirty (30) days’ notice before the effective date of a temporary layoff. Employees may request alternative temporary layoff days from their manager or supervisor and any requests will be considered and approved or denied in writing. B. An employee will normally receive seven (7) days notice of a temporary layoff.
