Tours of Less than 7. 5 Hours (hereinafter referred to as “short tours”) Where the Hospital schedules short tours, Article E applies in its entirety, except as amended by the following: (a) nurses shall be granted a paid rest period of 15 minutes; (b) no nurse will be scheduled solely on short tours in any pay period, unless agreed to by the nurse; (c) if the tour should extend past five (5) hours, then the nurse will be entitled to a ½ hour unpaid meal break; and (d) nurses working short tours shall not be scheduled to work more than five (5) consecutive short tours. If a nurse is scheduled to work on a sixth (6th) consecutive and subsequent short tour, she/he will receive premium pay for each tour so worked until a day off is scheduled.

Tours of Less than 7. 5 Hours (a) The Hospital may schedule tours of less than 7.5 hours where deemed necessary to maintain appropriate levels of service. (b) Where a nurse is scheduled to work less than the normal tour (7.5 hours), Article D in its entirety applies except as amended by the following: i) the Hospital will endeavour to keep the number of tours comprised of less than 7.5 hours to a minimum; ii) no nurse will be scheduled solely on tours which are comprised of less than 7.5 hours in any pay period, except where such arrangements are requested by the nurse or represent the hours of work for a position which has been posted; iii) within four (4) hours, a nurse will be entitled to a paid relief period of fifteen (15) minutes. (c) The Employer will pre-schedule the same nurse for full tours. In the event the nurse cannot work the entire pre-scheduled tour, the Hospital reserves the right to split the tour to ensure proper coverage.

B) Employees working shifts comprised of less than 7.5 hours shall be granted a paid rest period. C) No RPT – Category A Employee will be scheduled solely on tours which are comprised of less than 7.5 hours in any pay period, except where such arrangements are requested by the Employee. RPT – Category B Employees will not be scheduled to work shifts of less than 7.5 hours without their written consent. D) Employees working tours comprised of less than 7.5 hours, shall not be scheduled to work more than five (5) consecutive tours. E) There shall be an equitable distribution of tours of less than 7.5 hours among the part-time Employees in each unit.
