Validate. Validation occurs continually throughout projects and applies to project processes as well as deliverables and work products. Early in each project, we will meet with customers to validate the scope and content of deliverables and establish the quality standards that we must meet. This includes review and approval of the project processes, methods, and key performance indicators (KPI) we will use throughout the project to validate that processes and deliverables are suitable and in line with Florida's expectations. We believe validation works best as an iterative process, where we continually monitor our performance. This involves collecting information necessary to assess our performance against established KPIs. We then use this information to identify improvement areas and/or corrective actions. For deliverables and work products, WRMA conducts regular reviews with customers to identify how to build upon in-process work. Reviews may include meetings to validate that a deliverable's outline and scope are appropriate; walk throughs of interim deliverables for content, accuracy, and clarity; or formal or informal reviews of submitted deliverables. Interim reviews and walk throughs are important. We conduct them regularly throughout the development of deliverables to ensure we identify and eliminate issues early on and incorporate feedback as we go. This results in “no surprises” when Florida reviews a final deliverable. Schedules are built to include the necessary time to review deliverables as part of our development process. WRMA will encourage its customers to identify potential improvements as early as possible to avoid rework, eliminate unnecessary delays, and meet Florida's needs.
