Violence and Respect in the Workplace. (a) The parties recognize that it is important to provide an environment that is properly secure for all those who receive care or work in health care. A safe environment is important for staff and contributes to providing the highest possible standard of care. Staff should expect to work in, and residents should expect to be treated in an environment where the risk of violence is minimized. Violence means the attempted or actual exercise by a person of any physical force so as to cause injury to a worker, and includes any threatening statement or behavior which gives a worker reasonable cause to believe that s/he is at risk of injury. The requirements for risk assessment, procedures and policies, the duty to respond to incidents and to instruct workers are based on the recognition of violence in the workplace as an occupational hazard. This hazard is to be addressed by the occupational health and safety program following the same procedures required by the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations that address other workplace hazards.

The parties are committed to promoting a work environment in which all those who enter the facility will conduct themselves in a civil, respectful, and cooperative manner. The Employer will publish a clear policy for promoting and maintaining a working environment in which all persons are treated with respect and dignity. These policies regarding expectations and consequences of inappropriate behaviour, aggression and violence will be accessible to staff.

  • Violence in the Workplace (a) The parties agree that violence shall be defined as any incident in which an employee is abused, threatened or assaulted while performing his or her work. The parties agree it includes the application of force, threats with or without weapons and severe verbal abuse. The parties agree that such incidents will not be condoned. Any employee who believes he/she has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation. For purposes of sub-article (a) only, employees as referred to herein shall mean all employees of the Employer notwithstanding Article 2.12.

  • Workplace Violence (a) It is recognized that at certain worksites or in certain work situations employees may be at risk of physical violence or verbal abuse from clients, persons in care or custody, or the public.

  • Access to the Workplace Union staff or Union health and safety or environmental advisors or consultants with prior approval by management shall be provided access to the workplace to attend meetings of the Joint or Union Committees or for inspecting, investigating or monitoring the workplace.

  • Outpatient emergency and urgicenter services within the service area The emergency room copay applies to all outpatient emergency visits that do not result in hospital admission within twenty-four (24) hours. The urgicenter copay is the same as the primary care clinic office visit copay.

  • Safe Workplace A) The Employer and employees recognize the need for a safe and healthful workplace and agree to take appropriate measures in order that risks of accidents and/or occupational disease are reduced and/or eliminated. Employers will take all reasonable steps to eliminate, reduce and/or minimize threats to the safety of employees.

  • Transportation of Accident Victims Transportation to the nearest physician or hospital for employees requiring medical care as a result of an on-the-job accident shall be at the expense of the Employer.

  • WORKPLACE BEHAVIOR 3.1 The Employer and the Union agree that all employees should work in an environment that fosters mutual respect and professionalism. The parties agree that inappropriate behavior in the workplace does not promote the University’s business, employee well-being, or productivity. All employees are responsible for contributing to such an environment and are expected to treat others with courtesy and respect.
