OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAM. The employer shall institute a procedure for collecting information in the nature of hazards and incidence of injury which includes:-
(i) an internal system for reporting, recording and investigation of incidents, injuries and illness
(ii) the routine analysis of injury/illness/incident data; and
(iii) routine reports on key OHS performance indicators (lost time trends, injury frequency rates trends, cost and severity measures, estimation of indirect costs). A system of regular workplace inspections and regular hazard audits of work areas and work practices which include reference to relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice shall be instituted at the workplace. These will be carried out with the involvement of the OHS representatives. A scheduled maintenance program which includes requirements of relevant occupational health and safety legislation, standards and codes of practice shall be maintained. The employer shall take prompt action to deal with any health and safety problems.
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAM. 9.5.1 The employer shall institute a procedure for collecting information on the nature of hazards and incidence of injury, which includes:
(a) An internal system for reporting, recording and investigation of accidents, injuries and illness
(b) The routine analysis of injury/illness/accident data
(c) Routine reports on key OHS performance indicators (lost time trends, injury frequency rate trends, cost and severity measures, estimation of indirect costs).
9.5.2 A system of regular workplace inspections and regular hazard audits of work areas and work practices which include reference to relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice shall be instituted at the workplace.
9.5.3 Records of workplace inspections shall be maintained by the employer and made available to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
9.5.4 An effective system of induction and job instruction for all employees including as an integral part of such training instruction on the employers health and safety policy and procedures shall be instituted by the employer. Employee responsibilities are also be to included.
9.5.5 The employer shall ensure the provision of information to employees which will enable them to carry out their tasks without risk to their health and safety and such information will be provided in a form that is accessible and easily understood by such employees.
9.5.6 The employer shall institute a purchasing system which ensures the specifications for any item of plant, equipment and chemical substance comply with the relevant occupational health and safety legislation, standard or code of practice.
9.5.7 The employer shall ensure adequate emergency procedures are in place to deal with hazards present at the plant.
9.5.8 The Occupational Health and Safety Committee shall seek external expert advice on OHS matters as appropriate.
