First Responder Leave. Employees who are volunteer emergency and rescue workers may receive five (5) days unpaid leave to provide emergency services when dispatched.
First Responder Leave. An Employee who is a registered first responder in a volunteer capacity shall, subject to operational requirements, be granted leave without pay up to eight (8) hours per incident when on first responder duties. The Employee shall continue to accrue seniority while on such leave. ARTICLE 18LEAVE OF ABSENCE WITHOUT PAY 18.01 Union Leave Operational requirements permitting, leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted on request, in writing, to the Employer with as much notice as possible in advance of the date of the Convention, or Labour related activities, for Employees, elected or appointed to represent the Union, to attend the Convention or Union related activities. The Union will attempt to hold the total number to not more than forty (40) person days per year. Requests for Union Leave shall not be unreasonably denied. 18.02 Operational requirements permitting leave of absence of up to ninety (90) calendar days without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted on request, in writing, to the Employer for an Employee who has been selected or is the successful candidate for a government sponsored course or a course sponsored by any other organization to which the Union is affiliated in labour relations or occupational health and safety. Normally it is expected that notice of ten (10) days shall be given by the Employee, however, in extenuating circumstances it is recognized that such notice is not possible. This will apply to not more than two (2) candidates per year. 18.03 Operational requirements permitting and upon application to the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources & Organizational Development, leave of absence without pay shall be granted to an Employee who is engaged full-time in Union activity. The original period of leave shall not exceed one (1) year but may be extended for a second year if extenuating circumstances exist. During such period of leave the Employee may retain their insured benefits but they will be paid fully by the Employee. No more than one ( 1) member of the bargaining unit can be given this leave at the same time.
First Responder Leave. 4.10.1 The District and Association encourage employees to volunteer in the community. To this end, the District will afford the same privileges and protections to volunteer emergency medical personnel as is afforded to volunteer firefighters, reserve officers, and civil air patrol members in accordance with RCW 49.12.460 and Washington State Department of Labor and Industries policy. Specifically, the following provisions will apply: A. Any employee responding to an emergency call while on District time must notify their immediate supervisor prior to leaving the worksite. In addition, they will be responsible for finding a substitute for their position, if needed. B. Any employee who is called away from their worksite as a First Responder will be allowed to make up any time lost within the same or next pay period, with their supervisor’s approval. C. Any employee responding to an emergency within the physical setting of the school campus, or their bus if transporting students, will not be required to make up any time lost from their regular duties.
First Responder Leave. In the event of an official activation of an employee who has completed his probationary period and is an active First Responder, he shall receive pay equal to his regular rate of pay not to exceed eight (8) hours for such time lost each day when required to serve in such capacity during disaster, such as floods, tornados, storms, or other tragedies involving human life, providing it is absolutely necessary that he serve at this time. This paid leave shall be limited to three (3) workdays on any single activation. Notice of such service must be given to the Company as soon as possible and proof of duty must be submitted on a form provided by the Company to the satisfaction of the Company before this becomes applicable.
First Responder Leave. Employees who are volunteer emergency and rescue workers, specifically volunteer firefighters and members of Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada (SARVAC), will receive five (5) days paid leave to provide emergency services when dispatched. Other employees who wish to volunteer to assist in an emergency or natural disaster situation shall also be entitled to this paid leave with the approval of their Manager. Such approval shall not be unreasonably denied.

  • Other Leave Granting of leave is a matter between the employees and the mill management. The Company will consider length of service and will endeavour to arrange leave of absence to suit the employee's wishes. Employees with ten or more years service will be given special consideration.

  • Xxxxx’s leave 22.2.1 In normal circumstances an employee is not entitled to take carer's leave where another person has taken simultaneous leave to care for the same person. 22.2.2 The employee must, if required by the Employer, establish by production of a medical certificate or statutory declaration, the illness of the person concerned and that the illness is such as to require care by another. 22.2.3 The employee must where practicable, give the Employer notice prior to the absence of the intention to take leave, the name of the person requiring care and their relationship to the employee, the reason for taking such leave and the estimated length of absence. If it is not practicable for the employee to give prior notice of absence, the employee must notify the Employer by telephone of such absence at the first opportunity on the day of the absence. 22.2.4 The same considerations in quantum of carer’s leave applicable to part time Employees may be extended to eligible casuals but on an unpaid basis

  • Assault Leave 1. A Bargaining Unit Member who is required to be absent due to physical or mental disability resulting from an assault, which occurs in the course of Board employment while on duty on school grounds during school hours or where required to be in attendance at a school-sponsored function, shall receive assault leave. If such leave extends beyond five (5) days, the Bargaining Unit Member may be required to be evaluated by a licensed professional appointed by and paid for by the Board. The Board shall be entitled only to a simple certification of disability as a result of said examination. Upon determination of eligibility by the Board, such leave shall be granted for a period not to exceed one hundred eighty- four (184) school days upon the Bargaining Unit Member's delivering to the Treasurer a signed statement, unless unable to sign, on forms prescribed by the Board of Education and maintained by the Treasurer. 2. Such statements will indicate the nature of the injury, the date of its occurrence, the identity of individual(s) causing the assault, if known, the facts surrounding the assault and the willingness of the Bargaining Unit Member to participate and cooperate with the Board in pursuing legal action against the assailant(s). If medical attention is required, the Bargaining Unit Member shall supply a certificate from a licensed physician stating the nature of the disability and its duration. Need for absence because of assault may also be verified by a Board appointed physician. 3. Full payment for assault leave, less worker's compensation and any other financial remuneration, shall not exceed the Bargaining Unit Member's per diem rate of pay and will not be approved for payment unless and until the form and certificate, as provided above, are supplied to the Treasurer. A Bargaining Unit Member absent from work because of an assault shall not be gainfully employed elsewhere. Falsification of either the signed statement or a physician's certificate is grounds for suspension or termination of employment under Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.16 Where the assaulted Bargaining Unit Member becomes eligible for benefits under the State Bargaining Unit Members Retirement System because of any disability or because of age, or where the Bargaining Unit Member's employment by this district ceases, this leave provision shall no longer apply.
