Once approved, employees must remain in the Program for twelve (12) months unless a department establishes a lesser time period. Once approved for the VPLP, an employee agrees to remain in the program for that time period. In the case of financial hardship, an employee’s request to cancel participation may be approved by a department on a case-by-case basis. At the discretion of the State, all or a portion of unused Personal Leave credits may be cashed out at the employee’s salary rate at the time the Personal Leave payment is made. It is understood by both parties that the application of this cash out provision may differ from department to department and from employee to employee. Upon termination from State employment, the employee shall be paid for unused Personal Leave credits in the same manner as vacation or annual leave.   • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home.
