Voluntary Transfers and Assignments. The Board recognizes that it is desirable in making transfers or filling vacancies to consider the interests and aspirations of its teachers. The Board agrees that the screening committee, if one exists, will provide an informal interview during the screening process to all teachers that request a transfer, provided the teacher meets the stated requirements of the position. The Principal may grant the transfer or choose to continue to screen for applicants and fill the vacancy in accordance with District hiring policies. The final selection will be the best qualified candidate.

When a vacancy within a school or administrative unit in any professional position occurs, the administration/Board will make any appropriate adjustments/reassignments that are deemed necessary. Teachers who desire a transfer should file a written request within five (5) days of the posting each year and such request will be valid through the first semester of the next school year. 3. A standardized procedure for interviewing and notifying applicants for transfer shall be established by the Superintendent. 4. Applicants for transfer within the system shall be granted an interview with the principal(s) of the building(s) to which the applicant has requested to be transferred and other District employees deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such interviews shall be by the last day of the school year. Such consideration shall be given to applicants before new teachers are hired. 5. Requests may be made for position, grade level(s), and/or building. 6. The Superintendent retains the right to assign staff based on the needs of the district. The Superintendent will consider the certification/licensure, qualifications, and evaluations, and seniority of applicants in approving transfer requests, as well as the overall needs of the district. With all other qualifications being equal, final decision will be made by the building administrator and the Superintendent. 7. A teacher who makes a voluntary transfer may not again seek a voluntary transfer for a period of three (3) years, unless extenuating circumstances approved by the Superintendent are present.
