Acting Incumbents. 18.01 An Employee designated by the Employer to temporarily perform the principle duties of a higher paid classification for a period of three (3) consecutive working days or longer, shall be advanced to that step in the new range which is next higher than her current rate of pay or to the step which is next higher again if such salary increase is less than the employee’s normal increment on the former salary range. The total amount of such payment shall not exceed the maximum Basic Rate of Pay of the higher paid classification.
18.02 An Employee designated by the Employer to temporarily perform the principle duties of a classification of greater responsibility outside the scope of the Bargaining Unit for a period of three (3) consecutive working days or more shall, in addition to his Basic Rate of Pay, be paid a premium to be determined by the Employer.
18.03 An Employee designated by the Employer to temporarily perform the principle duties of a lower paid classification within the Bargaining Unit shall not have his Basic Rate of Pay adjusted.
Acting Incumbents. 17.01 When a Full-time or Part-time Employee is assigned by their immediate supervisor to:
(a) replace another Employee in a higher paid classification within this Collective Agreement for one (1) shift or longer, they shall be paid the Basic Rate of Pay for the classification in which the Employee is relieving, providing they are qualified to perform the substantive duties of the higher paid classification.
(b) temporarily relieve an out of scope position for one (1) shift or longer, the Employee will be paid an Employer determined premium in addition to their Basic Rate of Pay.
(c) to perform the duties of a lower paid classification, their basic rate of pay will not be changed.

18.02 An Employee required by the Employer to replace another Employee in a position of greater responsibility outside the scope of the Bargaining Unit for a period of two (2) hours or more shall, in addition to the Employee’s Basic Rate of Pay, be paid a premium to be determined by the Employer.
18.03 An Employee required by the Employer to temporarily replace another Employee holding a position with the Bargaining Unit to which is assigned a lower pay grade, except as provided in Article 17.03, shall not have the Employee Basic Rate of Pay adjusted.
18.04 The Employer may designate Journeyman Trades Employees to assume the temporary responsibilities of Lead Hand. Employees so designated shall receive, in addition to their regular earnings, a premium of one dollar and twenty-five cents ($1.25) per hour worked for the duration of their temporary appointment as Lead Hand. In addition to her/his normal duties, an Employee appointed to be Lead Hand shall be responsible for co-ordinating the efforts of other Journeyman Trades Employees assigned to work with her/him to ensure that the work is completed satisfactorily.
18.05 Local Conditions Applicable to Local 045/006, Foothills Medical Centre Auxiliary Nursing Classifications Only
(a) A Licensed Practical Nurse assigned by the Employer to act as a Preceptor for a student in the Licensed Practical Nurse program shall receive an additional sixty-five cents ($0.65) per hour. The Employer will give consideration to those Employees who express interest in participation in this program.
Acting Incumbents. 21.01 An Employee required by the Employer to replace another Employee holding a position within this Bargaining Unit, to which is assigned a higher maximum rate of pay, for a period of two (2) hours or more shall in addition to his Basic Rate of Pay, be paid a premium which is the equivalent hourly rate of the difference between the maximum rates of pay of the two (2) positions for the time so worked.
21.02 An Employee required by the Employer to replace another Employee in a position of greater responsibility outside the scope of the Bargaining Unit for a period of two (2) hours or more shall, in addition to his Basic Rate of Pay, be paid a premium to be determined by the Employer.
21.03 An Employee required by the Employer to temporarily replace another Employee holding a position within the Bargaining Unit to which is assigned a lower pay grade, except as provided in Clause 40.05, shall not have his Basic Rate of Pay adjusted.
Acting Incumbents. 23.01 An Employee required by CLS to replace another Employee holding a position within this bargaining unit, to which is assigned a higher pay grade, for a period of one hour or more shall in addition to her Basic Rate of Pay be paid the difference between the beginning rate in the wage scale of her classification and the beginning rate in the wage scale of the classification to which the Employee is temporarily assigned, or two dollars ($2.00) per hour, whichever is greater.
23.02 An Employee required by CLS to temporarily replace another Employee in a position of greater responsibility outside the scope for the bargaining unit for a period of one hour or more shall, in addition to her Basic Rate of Pay, be paid an amount to commensurate with the additional responsibilities, however not less than two dollars ($2.00) per hour. An employee so assigned shall continue to be covered by the terms and conditions of this Collective Agreement.
23.03 An Employee required by CLS to temporarily replace another Employee holding a position with the bargaining unit to which is assigned a lower pay grade, except as provided in Clause 13.03, shall not have her Basic Rate of Pay adjusted.
Acting Incumbents. A Temporary Employee required by the Employer to assume the duties of a position within the Bargaining Unit with a higher pay grade for the duration of his scheduled shift, shall in addition to his Basic Rate of Pay be paid an hourly premium equivalent to the difference between the job rates of the two jobs for the time so worked. Temporary Employees will be entitled to time off without pay in lieu of bereavement leave pursuant to Article of this Collective Agreement, The provisions of the following Articles and Clauses shall also apply to Temporary Employees: Clauses (a), (Health and Safety) Article (Supply of Uniforms) Article Opportunities) Clause (Worker’s Compensation)
