Additional Uses of Sick Leave. In addition to personal illness or injury, sick leave may be utilized for the following: A. Fire, accident, pallbearer, B. Required court appearance, C. Child born to wife, D. One (1) day per emergency illness or injury in the family which requires a bargaining unit member to make arrangements for necessary medical and nursing care, E. The day of surgery for a member of the immediate family, F. Dental and doctor appointments, G. Any other reason approved in advance by the Superintendent.

Additional Uses of Sick Leave. In addition to personal illness or injury, sick leave pay may be utilized for the following: (1) Fire, accident, pallbearer (2) Marriage or graduation of the employee or of a member of the employee's immediate family (3) Required court appearances (4) Child born to wife (5) Immediate member of family leaving for service (6) Emergency illness or injury in the family which requires the teacher to make arrangements for necessary medical and nursing care (7) Surgery for a member of the employee's immediate family (8) Dental and doctor appointments (9) Adoption of a child The use of sick days for the foregoing purposes shall be limited to one (1) each day for each incident or occurrence except the use of sick days for the adoption of a child shall be a maximum of fifteen (15) days for each child. The Superintendent or designee may approve the use of additional days for such purposes or the use of sick days for any other purposes.

(a) Fire, accident, pallbearer (b) Marriage or the graduation from high school or equilvalent, or college, including military or trade school of a son, daughter, spouse or of the employee two (2) days per occurrence per year) (c) Required court appearance by xxxxxxxx (d) Child born to wife three (3) days per occurrence per year) (e) Immediate member of family leaving for service (one day per year) (f) One (1) day per emergency illness or injury in the family which requires an employee to make arrangements for necessary medical and nursing care (g) Dental and doctor appointments (h) Any other reason approved in advance by the Superintendent
Additional Uses of Sick Leave. In addition to personal illness or injury, sick leave may be utilized for the following: funerals, personal business (three [3] days per year), dental and doctor appointments and any other reason approved in advance by the Superintendent. Personal business days may be used in situations of urgency for purposes of conducting personal business which is impossible to transact on weekends, after work hours or during vacation periods. Personal business days may not be used to extend vacation or holiday periods. An employee shall notify her supervisor at least two (2) hours before the regular start of work, or as soon thereafter as the employee's circumstances will permit, if she is going to be absent for reasons chargeable to sick leave. Such notice must be given to receive paid sick leave.

Additional Uses of Sick Leave. In addition to personal illness or injury, sick leave pay may be utilized for the following purposes: (1) A maximum of five (5) days total per teacher per school year for all serious illness in the immediate family. Further leave may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent.

  • Uses of Sick Leave a. Sick leave shall be accrued before being taken, provided that an employee who participates in a sick leave pool shall not be prohibited from using sick leave otherwise available to the employee through the sick leave pool. b. Sick leave shall be authorized for the following: i. The employee's personal illness or exposure to a contagious disease, which would endanger others. ii. The employee's personal appointments with a health care provider. iii. The illness or injury of a member of the employee's immediate family, at the discretion of the supervisor. Approval of requests for use of reasonable amounts of sick leave for caring for a member of the employee's immediate family shall not be unreasonably withheld. "Immediate family" means the spouse and the grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren of both the employee and the spouse, and dependents living in the household.

  • Use of Sick Leave Sick leave is available the first day of the pay period following the pay period in which it was earned, and is taken in units of one-tenth (1/10) of one hour. Use of sick leave is subject to the approval of the appointing authority. Upon request of an employee, the appointing authority may allow the substitution of three (3) or more days of sick leave for paid vacation, provided the employee furnishes a doctor's statement or other satisfactory evidence that the employee was ill or injured for three (3) or more consecutive days.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.

  • Deductions from Sick Leave A deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave of all normal working days (exclusive of holidays) absent for sick leave.

  • Abuse of Sick Leave Misuse of leave, violation of orders, directives, or contractual requirements concerning the use of sick leave and other forms of leave used in lieu of sick leave are cause for disciplinary action.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • Accrual of Sick Leave a. A full-time employee shall accrue four (4) hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period, or the number of hours that are directly proportionate to the number of days worked during less than a full-pay period, without limitation as to the total number of hours that may be accrued. b. A part-time employee shall accrue sick leave at a rate directly proportionate to the percent of time employed. c. An employee appointed under Other Personal Services (OPS) shall not accrue sick leave.

  • Variation of period of parental leave Unless agreed otherwise between the employer and employee, an employee may apply to their employer to change the period of parental leave on one occasion. Any such change to be notified at least four weeks prior to the commencement of the changed arrangements.

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave The normal cumulative sick leave allowance each year shall be ten (10) days for employees on thirty-eight (38) through forty-two (42) week assignments. Teachers on eleven (11) and twelve (12) month assignments shall receive one (1) day per month up to a maximum of twelve (12) days each year. A teacher shall be permitted to carry forward the unused portion of sick leave without limit. The balance of accumulated sick leave shall be printed on the teacher's bi-weekly statement of earnings.
