ARTICLE VEHICLE ALLOWANCE. Those employees who are required to use their automobile to perform duties for the Region and consequently must have a car available at all times and must provide for additional insurance coverage on their vehicle, should be paid at a flat rate. The categories and rates will be as established by the Regional Council and as amended from time to time. All other employees who would not normally require a car to perform their duties, should be reimbursed for occasional mileage at a rate established by Regional Council and as amended from time to time. The parties agree that this clause shall also cover payment for designated employees on temporary transfer who shall be paid mileage for all miles travelled in excess of his normal home-work trip. Employees who are required to use their automobile will be designated by the Department Head or his delegate on a list which will indicate their appropriate mileage category.

The Computer Technicians, Computer Applications Support Persons and Network Technician shall receive a flat monthly vehicle allowance of plus the rate per kilometer as established by the Employer.

Payments are calculated at for the first kilometers and for each kilometer traveled beyond kilometers. A year end conciliation is required for every employee receiving an advance. The adjustment for additional kilometers traveled or recovery of an overpayment must be completed by the end of January of the following calendar year. If an employee terminates employment, or is removed from the vehicle advance system, the reconciliation is due at that time. If no travel records are received, the total amount of the advance will be recovered. Advances shall be paid on the second pay period of the month. The reimbursement is for the use of personal vehicles only. Reimbursement for parking charges and other travel expenses shall be submitted on a separate expense claim. All other nurses who would not normally require a car to perform their duties, and those nurses who drive less than per year, shall be reimbursed at the rate of for the first and for every kilometre travelled beyond Nurses who are required to use their automobile will be designated by their Department Head on a list which will indicate their appropriate vehicle allowance category. A nurse who drives less mileage than the lower boundary of her category shall have the shortfall in kilometres multiplied by the casual rate recorded as a taxable benefit on the employee's annual slip. Any nurse who is transferred temporarily to another office will be reimbursed for any distance driven in excess of her home-work trip under the appropriate clause of Article Vehicle Allowance.

Employees requested to use their own vehicles for business purposes or when traveling between two (2) schools shall be reimbursed according to the rate as set by the Employer and consistent with Board policy. The Computer Technicians, Computer Application Support, ITS Communications Administrator, Computer Application Support Technician, Technologist and School Network Technician shall receive a flat monthly vehicle allowance of plus the rate per kilometre as established by the Employer. Requests for separate days shall be given reasonable consideration on an individual basis subject to the condition that the workplace shall not be unduly affected by the approval of the vacation time. Article Recreational The may continue to use any recreational equipment now on hand and in use in the Fire Stations and may install television sets therein at their own expense. The employees may, with the approval of the Department Head, install further recreational equipment in such Stations at their own expense.
