Benefits While on Compensation. Regular employees who are absent from work and in receipt of WCB wage loss replacement benefits shall be considered as being on unpaid leave of absence, except that seniority and benefits shall be applied as follows:
(a) seniority hours pursuant to Clause 11.1 shall continue to accrue;
(b) PTO entitlement in Clause 17.1 shall continue to accrue; and
(c) the Health and Welfare provisions of Article 24 will continue to apply for 20 working shifts or the end of the calendar month in which the employee is injured whichever is greater.
Benefits While on Compensation. Employees who are absent from work and in receipt of WCB wage-loss replacement benefits shall be considered as being at work and shall receive Health and Welfare benefits as if they were at work.

(a) Seniority hours pursuant to Article 11.1 shall continue to accrue.
(b) Accumulative benefits shall continue to accrue for a maximum of six (6) calendar months.
(c) The health and welfare provisions of Article 25 will continue to apply, except that the employee shall be required to pay the health and welfare premiums for absences in excess of six (6) calendar months. Failure of the employee to remit the required monthly premium payments shall result in the cancellation of the health and welfare benefits. Where the Workers' Compensation Board denies an employee's claim (and/or appeal if applicable), the employee shall reimburse the Employer for any health and welfare premiums paid by the Employer in accordance with Article 25 - Health and Welfare Benefits, while on unpaid leave of absence.

An employee must apply for sick leave pay to cover periods of actual time lost from work owing to sickness or accident. Where medical and/or dental appointments cannot be scheduled outside the employee's working hours, a sick leave day with pay shall be granted, from accumulated sick leave credits or an unpaid day will be granted if no sick leave credits are available. The Employer may require an employee to substantiate a claim for sick leave payment.
Benefits While on Compensation. (a) Employees shall receive directly from the Workers' Compensation Board any wage loss benefits to which they may be entitled.
(b) Employees who are absent from work and in receipt of WorkSafeBC wage-loss replacement benefits shall be considered as being on Unpaid Leave of Absence, except that seniority and benefits shall be applied as follows:
(1) seniority hours pursuant to Clause 11.1 (Seniority Defined) shall continue to accrue.
(2) vacation entitlement under Clause 17.1 (Entitlement) shall continue to accrue; and
(3) the Health and Welfare provisions of Article 25 – Health and Welfare Plans will continue to apply for 20 work shifts. For WCB absences in excess of 20 work shifts, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee for a period of two years, provided the employee pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures established by the Employer.
(c) Employees qualifying for Workers' Compensation coverage shall be continued on the payroll and shall not have their employment terminated during the compensable period.
