Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. The Employer will continue to pay its share of the applicable health and welfare benefits for a maximum of twenty (20) work shifts in any calendar year. For any leave of absence or accumulation of leaves of absence in excess of twenty (20) work shifts in any calendar year, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee, provided the employee pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures outlined by the Employer.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. The Employer will continue to pay its share of the applicable health and welfare benefits for a maximum of thirty (30) calendar days. For any leave of absence or accumulation of leaves of absence in excess of thirty (30) calendar days, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee, provided the carrier allows it and provided the employee pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures established by the Employer.

The Employer will continue to pay its share of the applicable health and welfare benefits for a maximum of twenty (20) work days in any calendar year. For any leave of absence or accumulation of leaves of absence in excess of twenty (20) work shifts in any calendar year, (except in the case of Pregnancy Leave, Parental leave, Adoption Leave, Compassionate Care Leave, Leave Respecting Disappearance of Child, Leave Respecting Death of Child and Jury Duty, consistent with the Employment Standards Act, and WCB leave, in which benefits continues as if at work) benefit coverage may be continued by the employee provided the employee pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures established by the Employer.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. The employee may continue benefit coverage, provided the employee pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures established by the Employer.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. The Employer will continue to pay its share of the applicable health and welfare benefits for a maximum of twenty (20) work shifts in any year. Any employee granted unpaid leave of absence totaling up to twenty (20) working days in any years shall continue to accumulate all benefits and shall return to their former job and increment step. If an unpaid leave of absence or an accumulation of unpaid leaves of absence exceeds twenty (20) work shifts in any year, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee, provided the employee gives postdated cheques in advance to the Employer, for the monthly costs of all the benefit premiums to the Employer.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence.
(a) The Employer will continue to pay its share of the applicable health and welfare benefits for a maximum of 20 work shifts in any calendar year. For any leave of absence or accumulation of leaves of absence in excess of 20 work shifts in any calendar year, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee, only if she pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures established by the Employer.
(b) Employees who are absent for more than 20 work shifts in any calendar year due to taking unpaid general leave and opt to not pay the cost of the benefit premiums will lose access to benefits and will have their entitlement to such benefits reinstated effective January 1st of the following calendar year provided they are actively at work.
(c) Employees on an unpaid medical leave or WSBC leave whose benefit coverage was inactive will have their benefits reinstated on the first day of the calendar month following their return to active duty in accordance with Clause 24.2 – Commencement of Coverage.
(d) Notwithstanding (a) above, if an employee is on unpaid leave of absence for any of the following reasons:
(1) pregnancy, parental or adoption leave;
(2) family responsibility leave;
(3) compassionate care leave;
(4) reservists leave;
(5) bereavement leave;
(6) jury duty, or
(7) for volunteer fire fighting duties. her benefit coverage will be continued providing the employee pays, in advance, their share of the monthly cost of all of the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures established by the Employer.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. (a) The Employer will continue to pay its share of the applicable health and welfare benefits for a maximum of twenty (20) work shifts in any calendar year. For any leave of absence or accumulation of leaves of absence in excess of twenty (20) work shifts in any calendar year, benefit coverage may be continued by the employee, provided the employee pays, in advance, the monthly cost of all the benefit premiums to the Employer in accordance with the procedures outlined by the Employer.
(b) Employees who are absent from work and in receipt of WCB wage loss replacement benefits shall be considered as being on unpaid Leave of Absence except that seniority and Health and Welfare benefits shall be applied as follows:
(1) Seniority pursuant to Article 12 shall continue to accrue.
(2) The Health and Welfare provisions of Article 27 will continue to apply, except that the employee shall be required to pay all Health and Welfare premiums when the absence exceeds six (6) calendar months. Failure of the employee to remit the required monthly premiums shall result in the cancellation of Health and Welfare Benefits. Where the WCB denies an employee claim (and/or appeal if applicable) the employee shall reimburse the Employer for any Health and Welfare premiums paid by the Employer.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. An employee on leave of absence without pay for periods over thirty (30) calendar days shall cease to accrue further seniority and shall cease further benefit entitlements for the balance of their leave. When on such leave, previously accrued seniority will remain frozen to the employee’s credit. Vacation and statutory holiday credits shall cease, but health and welfare benefit continuance may be arranged by the employee, with the premium payments due from the employee to be arranged in advance with the Employer. For the purpose of this Article, the expression “without pay” shall mean when an employee is no longer in receipt of pay directly from the Employer, including a long-term disability claim. When an employee is on sick leave, the Short Term Disability Plan, or in receipt of Workers’ Compensation Board time loss benefits for an injury received with this Employer, their health and welfare benefits will be continued for the duration of their entitlement period(s) under these plans.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. Employees who take unpaid leave of absence will be covered under the health and welfare plan for the month in which the leave is taken and the month in which he/she returns from the leave.
Health and Welfare Benefits While on Unpaid Leave of Absence. For the balance of a twelve (12) week period, i.e., twelve (12) weeks less twenty (20) work shifts, the service of an employee who is on adoption leave shall be considered continuous for the purpose of seniority, and the Employer shall continue to make payment to any health and welfare plan in which the employee is enrolled in the same manner as if the employee was not absent.
