Casual Union Leave. The Employer agrees that leave of absence with pay and benefits (subject to the Union providing full funding to the Employer) shall be given to any designated employee(s) for union business, such leave of absence to be granted for a period not exceeding six months as the union requests in writing. Requests for such leave shall be made in writing. A response to the request will be conveyed within 48 hours of receipt, except in the case of leave for one week or longer, in which case a response will be conveyed within seven working days of when the written request has been received by the head of the department. An employee on such leave shall return to the former position and salary, subject to any general increases.

Requests for all leaves for Union business funded by the Union will be made by the Union in writing to the employee’s supervisor with a copy to the Human Resources Department. Permission for an employee to attend to Union business will be conveyed within forty-eight (48) hours of receipt of the request, except in the case of leave for more than five (5) working days, in which case the permission will be granted within ten (10) working days of when the written request is received by the supervisor. In addition, the employee concerned shall notify the immediate supervisor as soon as becoming aware that a request for Union leave is going to be made by the Union. An employee on such leave shall return to their former classification, position and salary, subject to any general increases.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave. In circumstances where the employee has exhausted all of the paid leave, a further 2 days unpaid leave may be taken.

  • Federation Leave A leave of absence for the president and a second position of the Federation shall be granted to any employee covered by this Agreement upon application by the Federation for the purpose of the employee serving as an officer of the Federation. The District shall continue to pay such employee(s) and provide benefits, with the exception of leave benefits, but will be reimbursed by the Federation for the cost of salary and fringe benefits. Upon return from such leaves, an employee shall proceed on the salary schedule as if s/he had been employed with the District each year of the leave.
