Critical Incident Stress.
(a) In the event an employee has experienced a critical incident while on duty, the employee may at the unit chief’s discretion be released from duty, for the balance of the shift, with pay.
(b) The Employer will provide critical incident stress debriefing/ defusing to employees as required.
(c) Employees requiring critical incident stress debriefing/defusing shall suffer no loss of pay while attending CIS sessions.
Critical Incident Stress. (a) In cases of a critical incident, if the employee determines that they are unable to complete the remainder of their shift as a result of the impact of the incident, they will inform their on-shift manager/supervisor and will be granted leave for the remainder of their shift, without penalty or loss of pay.
(b) The Employer will provide critical incident stress debriefing/ defusing to employees as required.
(c) Employees requiring critical incident stress debriefing/defusing shall suffer no loss of pay while attending CIS sessions.
(d) Following a critical incident, if the employee determines that they require a break period, a minimum of one (1) hour of out-of-service time will be guaranteed following completion of the incident and/or clearing of the hospital without penalty or loss of pay. Revised Collective Agreement Language MOU # 1 is moved into the Collective Agreement as Article 21.27.
Critical Incident Stress. The Employer and the Union recognize the benefit of critical incident stress debriefings. The Employer agrees to consult with the Union in the development of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing protocols.
Critical Incident Stress. Debriefing shall be made available and be known to Employees who have suffered a serious work related, traumatic incident of an unusual nature. Leave to attend such session will be without loss of pay.
Critical Incident Stress. I.S. trained individuals will provide support services to employees involved in critical incidents. As well they will provide debriefing services as required in conjunction with a trained mental health professional. Union members of the committee will be appointed by the Union Executive. Recognizing the value of this process to the employees and worksite, management will ensure these C.I.S. trained individuals are available during such circumstances. Time missed from work for training or participation in a critical incident stress defusing/debriefing will be at the company’s expense. Ref: Management Policy 117 There will be no banking of time spent at committee meetings; all time currently permitted to be banked will now be paid. (see Item 64 – A4 Agreement) The basis of payment for attending meetings held outside working hours is as follows:
Critical Incident Stress. The parties recognize that paramedics are subject at times to extreme stress in the performance of their duties; therefore, where an employee is experiencing obvious stress as a result of a critical injury case they may be relieved of duties for the remainder of the shift without loss of pay. A critical incident occurs when an employee experiences an unusually strong emotional reaction to an extraordinary situation that interferes with their ability to function in the workplace. The parties agree, that in the event of a critical incident in the workplace, the Employer will provide critical incident stress debriefing to the affected employee(s) through the Municipality’s EAP provider. Such employee(s) shall be approached by a supervisor to discuss the incident and the supervisor shall offer the employee time off work so that they can immediately access EAP.
Critical Incident Stress. DEBRIEFING (CISD)
Section 1. The Employer will proactively manage the common disruptive physical, mental, and emotional factors that an employee may experience while on duty, after a critical incident, (i.e., accidents/incidents, such as an aviation disaster with loss of life, the death of a co-worker, acts of terrorism, exposure to toxic materials, prolonged rescue or recovery operations, and natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes). Upon request, an employee involved in or witnessing a critical incident shall be relieved from operational duties as soon as feasible.
Section 2. The use of the EAP services will be provided in accordance with the provisions of Article 24 of this Agreement.
Section 3. Whenever possible, an educational briefing regarding critical incident stress will be offered to all employees at an affected facility.
Critical Incident Stress. In the event of a critical or traumatic incident in the workplace, the University shall ensure that affected employees are provided counselling and/or debriefing services as necessary and appropriate. Leave for such services will be without loss of pay.
Critical Incident Stress. The City will offer assistance to Fire Department personnel exposed to the emotional trauma associated with critical incidents. Assistance will include the availability of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Defusing by trained and qualified individuals approved by the Critical Incident Response Team Annually, the will submit recommendations required resources to the Fire Chief. The three (3) least senior Fire Dispatchers shall work on a relief basis. Employees hired prior to December will be exempt from this provision. The Relief Fire Dispatcher shall not be bound by the Hours of Work and Platoon Transfer provisions of the Collective Agreement but shall instead be governed by the following:
Critical Incident Stress. The Employer will provide critical incident stress assistance to the affected employee(s) through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider recognized by the Employer.
