Education-Personal Leave. After five years of consecutive service to the school district, a teacher may request to take two years off from the system without compensation for the purpose of pursuing an advanced degree or for personal reasons. Teachers given leaves without pay will advance on the salary schedule upon return provided a job is available for which the teacher is qualified. Teachers are requested to make notification of intent to take educational or personal leave during the month of May. In no event will leave be granted if the request is after July 1. In order to qualify for a subsequent educational or personal leave, a teacher will be obligated to serve an additional five consecutive years of service to the district.

Education-Personal Leave. Teachers under tenure may be granted leave of absence without pay and other benefits provided for in this AGREEMENT for a period of one year for the purpose of continuing their studies or otherwise advancing their professional growth in a manner, which is judged by the Board to have a direct relationship to their contractual duties with the District. Such leaves of absence may be granted for the following purposes: 1. Graduate study program; 2. Exchange teaching programs in other states, territories, or countries; 3. Foreign or military program; 4. Peace Corps, Teacher Corps, Job Corps, as a full-time participant; or 5. Cultural travel, work, study, or other programs related to his/her professional growth and responsibilities. A request for leave of absence for advanced study or professional growth must be submitted to the Superintendent by April 1 prior to the school year in which the leave is desired. The Superintendent shall forward to the Board the application, along with his recommendation. Where an initial leave of absence for advanced study or professional growth is granted, the Board may grant an extension or extensions to the leave of absence. The application shall state with specificity the course of instruction or other activities in which the teacher intends to engage. The teacher on leave shall give the Superintendent notice in writing of his/her intent to resume teaching duties by March 1st of the calendar year in which the leave terminates. Failure by the teacher to give such written notice by March 1st shall operate as his/her voluntary resignation from employment with the District effective March 1st of the calendar year in which the leave terminates. A teacher granted an educational or personal leave may make arrangements to continue health insurance coverage as provided in the AGREEMENT, provided further that he/she reimburses the District on a monthly basis the District's costs for the premium for the teacher. Upon return from an educational or personal leave, the teacher may be returned to a position similar to that held prior to the leave.
Education-Personal Leave. The Employer may grant a leave of absence to any Employee for a maximum period of twelve (12) months for education reasons or for personal reasons of the Employee. Such leave may be renewed at the discretion of the Employer.

  • Personal Leave Written request for a personal leave of absence without pay will be considered on an individual basis by the Hospital. Such requests are to be submitted to the employee's immediate supervisor at least four (4) weeks in advance, unless not reasonably possible to give such notice, and a written reply will be given within fourteen (14) days except in cases of emergency in which case a reply will be given as soon as possible. Employees needing personal leave days for appointments with medical practitioners may utilize the personal leave language. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Personal Leaves 8.11.4.1 As approved by the Board, personal leaves without pay may be granted in cases of exceptional need for up to six (6) months. Any such leave exceeding one (1) semester shall not be counted toward tenure or promotion or for computing salary increments.   • Personal Leave With Pay Full-time employees who are eligible to accrue sick leave may use up to a maximum of six days personal leave with pay per year provided that such days shall be charged against the employee's currently accrued sick leave. This leave is non-cumulative.
