Eligibility for Continuing Contract. A. Teachers shall be eligible for continuing contract status in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.08, provided that no teacher shall be deemed eligible for a continuing contract, nor be deemed employed on a continuing contract by operation of law, unless the Ohio Department of Education issued a professional, permanent, life teaching certificate, or educator’s license to that teacher before February 1 of the year in which the teacher's limited contract is to expire, and a copy of the certificate or license is filed in the Superintendent's office by February

A teacher who does not file an upgraded license before April 1 but who expects to receive an upgraded license before the following April 1 has the right to request that the Board re-employ him or her on a one-year limited contract rather than a longer contract, in order to be considered for tenure the following year, if he or she becomes eligible. Such a one-year contract shall not be considered to be a “probationary” contract under O.R.C. 3319.11.
Eligibility for Continuing Contract. 8.01 Teachers shall be eligible for continuing contract status in accordance with O.R.C. §3319.11. A teacher eligible for continuing contract status must have on file with the Board of Education a copy of the following: 1) his or her professional or permanent certificate or 2) professional educator license and transcript(s) of coursework completed as required under O.R.C. 3319.08 at least one (1) week prior to the April meeting when the Board of Education expects to take action on contracts. However, the teacher must have given prior written notice of his or her anticipated eligibility for a continuing contract to the Superintendent of Schools delivered no later than September 30 in the school year in which they wish to be considered.
