Continuing Contract Eligibility. The office of the Superintendent or designee will send a timely Districtwide email notifying all bargaining unit members that to be considered for a continuing contract, they must provide written notice to the Superintendent of Schools by October 1 of their intent to meet the statutory requirements in order to be considered for a continuing contract at the April meeting of the Board of Education. The professional, permanent, or life certificate or equivalent professional education license must be on file with the Superintendent of Schools by March 31 for the bargaining unit member to be considered for continuing contract status in April. Statutory requirements for continuing contract eligibility are set forth in Sections 3319.08 and 3319.11 of the Ohio Revised Code. Bargaining unit members who do not provide written notice by October 1 and/or do not have transcripts of their thirty (30) graduate hours, or their professional, permanent, or life certificate or professional educator license/certificate on file by March 31, will not be eligible for continuing contract consideration until April of the following school year.
Continuing Contract Eligibility. Teachers shall be eligible for continuing contract status in accordance with ORC Section 3319.11, provided however that no teacher shall be deemed eligible to be considered for a continuing contract nor be deemed employed on a continuing contract by operation of law unless the teacher, no later than October 1st of the school year in which the teacher's employment contract is to expire, files with the Oak Hills Superintendent or his/her designee, a letter of intent that they will meet all legal qualifications of a continuing contract prior to receipt of a new contract for the following year. Failure by the teacher to provide notice of continuing contract eligibility by October 1st may result in the teacher receiving a one year limited contract. Grades/transcripts initially eligible for continuing contract must be received by the Superintendent or Superintendent's designee prior to April 1st of each year. This provision supersedes and replaces those requirements of Ohio Revised Code Section 3319.08 and 3319.11.

It is the member’s responsibility to maintain and track all documents necessary to be approved for continuing contract. A member may withdraw, in writing, his/her request for a continuing contract at any time prior to Board action.
b. Failure to notify the Superintendent by applicable deadline shall be a waiver of the member’s eligibility for the continuing contract for the following school year. If the teacher fails to notify the Board, he/she may be given a one (1) year limited contract for the following school year rather than a continuing contract. Notice received after the applicable deadline shall not serve as the notice required by this Section for the following school year.
c. If a member reaches eligibility during the term of a multi-year limited contract, the member may still notify the Board of his/her eligibility and the Board may grant the member a continuing contract.

An employee being recommended for continuing contract must be recommended in writing and the recommendation must be attached to the employee’s “Teacher Evaluation Form.” In the event an employee becomes eligible for continuing contract during the term of a multi-year limited contract, the Superintendent may agree to consider the employee during that year or may elect to wait until the year in which the multi-year limited contract expires to consider the employee for continuing contract.
